Time-Lapse Night Flight
GoPro time-lapse video of a short out-and-back flight between Addison (KADS) and McKinney National (KTKI) near Dallas TX to complete currency. Using the time-lapse video setting (0.5 sec) on the tail camera makes the battery last longer than when recording real-time video.

Video is under 3 minutes long and has no ATC.

What a pretty video! Thanks for sharing.
I have not seen this perspective on Diamonds. How did you mount your GoPro?

Re: Time-Lapse Night Flight
Nice video.
Just a reminder for pilots watching this (I'm sure Paul already knows this), for night currency your 3 takeoffs and landings have to be to a full stop -- no touch & gos count for night currency. I think the original purpose of this was to ensure that pilots flying tail-draggers got the full experience of maintaining control at night.
It's hard to tell from the time lapse video, but it appears the plane may have come to a complete stop in the middle of the KTKI runway before taking off again to meet the requirement.

Re: Time-Lapse Night Flight
I actually did 3 stop-and-goes at KTKI (see FlightAware). The two left-traffic circuits are dark and not interesting to watch so I edited them out. The time-lapse hides the brief full stop.
In hindsight (both here and especially on FB), I probably shouldn't have mentioned "night currency" as it created an unintended focus (and many comments) on the "full stop" and "number of landings".
I probably should have just said "Pretty Night Flight with No Instructional Content."

Re: Time-Lapse Night Flight
I paid an A&P/IA to install the nFlightcam Aviation Exterior mount. The link also includes information (The A&P’s Guide to Mounting Action Cameras) for the A&P regarding the installation - including FAA correspondence regarding case-by-case determination regarding the classification as a minor modification by the installing A&P.

That is what I use. I have one bung on the right underside of the horizontal stabilizer, and one on the top surface of the left wingtip. They work great, and you can mount them virtually anywhere there is an existing airframe screw.

Re: Time-Lapse Night Flight
I'm using the same mount on my DA62 to hold a GoPro MAX for capturing 360 video. So far, my favorite place to mount the spud is under the tip of the right horizontal stab near the leading edge, just outboard and below the TKS panel. Sounds like the same location DA40 Steve is using for his 'bung'. Sorry, Steve, but it's a spud, not a bung.
