Canadian flight training

Post by Boatguy »

Flying back to Petaluma (O69) yesterday from Klamath Falls (KLMT) VFR at 10,500' just east of Mt. Shasta I was passed by a flock of Canadian geese flying about 1,000' higher. Many thanks to the Canadian authorities that trained the geese to ensure good vertical separation!

Maybe the only nice thing anyone has ever said about Canada geese! Lol

And in a spirit of reciprocity, last Saturday we were at 4500’ SW of CYZU when a bald eagle circle up right beside us in a thermal - spectacular. Too bad it happened too fast to grab a camera!

Which part of my message didn't you understand? Happy to help out if you've made an unintended inference.

Clearly, if they were separated by 1000', they were flying in the opposite direction - that's how he passed them! :D

Ah, but passive voice (was passed) could cause one to infer the opposite. Just a bit of grammatical humor here - no offense :)

I used to fly the A-10. Damned thing was so slow that we regularly took bird strikes from the rear. It happen so regularly from Canadian Geese that there was a check box on the maintenance debrief form for "Goosed"...
