Nooo He wasn't in a hurry. RPM was around 2000 and fuel burn in the 6 GPH mostly.

These DA40-HE (Hindu Edition) are really very efficient. I better get one before going down to Palma for my race with Aart.
Ah and they have Fakir-seats from Premier too!

OK, Hubert pm-ed me and passed on the trip report as follows. Hubert is the General Importer of Diamond Aircraft in Asia and based in Bangkok. He does some of the ferry flights for his customers himself:
It was great fun and the aircraft were performing so well. Report as it
is... you can also refer to downloaded data. The climb-rates are impressing;
you can climb from ground to FL150 1000ft/min and more. The new propeller
(scimitar) makes big difference and of course all the little aero dynamical
tweaks (new cowling / new rudder / new rudder gap-cover and many more....)
The aircraft just accelerates a lot more than the previous versions and due
to considerable lower drag amazing gain in speed.

As it was...the DA42NG-VI is great fun to fly. Currently three in Asia, two
more are coming next month. , three with newly introduced Weather radar &
stormscope!.

Two factory new DA42-VI have been flown to Sandakan on the Malaysian part of
the island Borneo in early March 2013.

The ferry flightcrew consisted in total of four pilots, two pilots per
aircraft. The total distance of 13,512km or 7296nm was flown in only eight
days with landings in Thessaloniki (Greece), Sitia (Greece), Hurghada
(Egypt), Gassim (Saudi Arabia), Fujairah (UAE), Muscat (Oman), Ahmedabad
(India), Kolkata (India), Yangon (Myanmar), Langkawi (Malaysia), Kuching
(Malaysia) and finally Sandakan (Malaysia). The flight time to accomplish
this first long distance delivery flight of a DA42-VI was only 41 hours and
37 minutes.

Both crews have been very impressed by the performance increase of this
latest DA42 version and both aircraft were performing outstandingly well
during this entire journey. Altitudes flown were between 11.000 feet and
17.000 feet and the True Airspeed (TAS) was consistently above 170 kts and
even up to 190 kts. The climb rate from Mean Sea Level (MSL) to 15.000 feet
was most of the time more than 1000 ft/min and above 15.000 feet still 800
ft/min at a cruise climb of 100 KIAS. The fuel efficiency of the aircraft
was in the range of 0.26 liter/nm. Both aircraft were flown with same power
settings, between 63% and 79% on the respective legs and the difference in
fuel consumptions of both aircraft was almost identical as the difference
per flown leg with equal power setting never exceeded more than 4 liters.

No other aircraft in its class can beat the DA42-VI's economy especially in
regard of speed and climb performance. No matter whether winter weather in
Europe, 45 degrees Celsius in the desert of Saudi Arabia or 39 degrees with
high humidity in the Tropics, the engines start, run and perform smoothly
and flawlessly. The power of 100% load upon take-off up to higher than
10,000 ft are standard for the well designed and FADEC controlled Austro
Engine AE300.

The aircraft is flying very stable during all phases of flight and even 30
kts head/crosswind during approach through heavy rain in Sitia (Greece) were
no problem for the DA42-VI.
