Flying Videos
Hello
Not sure where to put this. I have finally found out how to edit videos from the HD Go Pro, and upload them to youtube (thanks kids!), and upload them to DAN.
These are from some flights from my home base YMPC - Pt Cook. This is a RAAF (Royal Australian Airforce) base. However the only RAAF aircraft based here are in their musuem. There are a number of civilian aircraft based here.
In these videos you will get an idea of flying around YMPC, we are 5NM from the centre of Melbourne.
Hope you enjoy these, there is no music because the kids only wanted heavy metal!! on the sound track, will learn how to do that!
Enjoy

Re: Flying Videos
Hello Kai and other clever people on DAN
Any idea on how to make these youtube videos work. The kids are still asleep. The oldest one is doing his first night circuits tonight!
Thanks

Robin:
Nice video. I've been meaning to get one of those GoPro units to record our Spring Break trips. I like the cockpit perspective you had. Where did you affix the camera?

Re: Flying Videos
Thanks Steve
The Go Pro comes with a number of clips. These have an elastic adhesive tape that you can peel off. I stuck one of these on the metal arch between the 2 lights just above the pilots head.
The automobile version of the Go Pro comes with a suction cup, so you can fix it anywhere. I like the clip, you can easily clip the camera on and off.
When positioned, you can adjust the camera settings, so the camera image is inverted, as you fix the camera to the ceiling it is inverted - upside down. Saves you having to flip the video later in the edit process.
Cheers

Re: Flying Videos
Last week I did a night flight from my home base YMPC (Point Cook) to YMMB (Moorabbin) to pick up a mate who has started his night flying training. I flew him home back to Point Cook.
I hope you enjoy the video .
I shall work on getting music loaded, and showing the flight back. Point Cook is much more isolated, so the runway lights seem so much brighter.
Cheers

Re: Flying Videos
Robin,
Thanks for posting the nice videos.
Maybe it's old news, but I discovered today that flightaware.com now covers OZ, so we can all follow along with your flights.

Re: Flying Videos
Hi Dan
Thanks for that, I use another program webtracker. I like the flightaware.com. Its kind of embrassing that everyone can see that I did not allow for the strong northly wind that day - see the photos in the gallery of the bush fires - wild fires- you can see that I end up intercepting the inbound radial of 222 way too late, not allowing for the headwind as I turned inbound (into the northly wind) of the VOR approach into YWE Yarrowee http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip ... 01-130.pdf. I should have done a 45 degree intercept, rather than the 30 intercept to get back onto the 222 degree inbound course on the VOR.
I was happy with the RNAV GNSS approach into Ballarat runway 36 http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip ... 02-129.pdf.
Have a great weekend Dan.
PS hope to go flying in the new DA 42 NG next week with Stephen Pembro & Richard Tomlinson from Hawker Pacific the Australian & New Zealand Diamond Agents!
Cheers

Re: Flying Videos
My weekend flying fix to Hamilton. Due to do an Angelflight here, so did a practice run out to Hamilton, including some IF time.
I hope you enjoy the video, the landing is at double speed, got a wind shear on short final, looks more dramatic than it actually was.
Have a great week.
Cheers

Re: Flying Videos
Hello
I have compressed my 3.1 hours of flying last weekend May 19 &20 into 6 minutes of video.
My IFR flying instructor -CFI, was actually had a go flying my Diamond. He was very impressed with the way the Diamond DA 40 flew. He loved the way the plane flew, its climb out, the smoothness of the engine controls, and the control column responsiveness.
Have a great week.
Cheers
