We flew to Koblenz this Sunday. Only 100 NM from Liège. Very nice weather this WE.
Koblenz-Winningen is a very nice place to visit. This VFR airport has a very good and friendly service, and there was a lot of activity at that field today. It's a pleasure to meet such dynamic GA place. There is a fine Greek restaurant on the field.
It's only 10 min to downtown by taxi. We visited this pretty town at the confluent of the Moselle and Rhine Rivers. Very beautiful, recommended.
I will post the report ASAP.

Jean
My mate and I often do these sort of flights on a Sunday. One of our favourites flights is to Brown Brothers winery, they have a good strip. Excellent gourmet level restaurant. We toss a coin to see who is flying back, and who can have a glass of wine with lunch.
When I did my CPL -commercial pilots licence, the ATO - aircraft testing officer, gave me the flight plan. During the flight we had to do a diversion, we went to Brown Brothers, he then made me do a weight and balance check, so that he could load his wine into the plane! He told me that all my landings had to be silky smooth so as not to upset the wine.

My wife and I often go away for a weekend, find a good restaurant to have dinner at, stay the night and then have a leisurely flight back home on Sunday afternoon.
Jean I will have to go to Europe next year to a conference, maybe I should find a plane to fly into such places.
Cheers

Hi Robin,
Let me know when you come over to Europe.
Here is the web site of EDRK
http://www.flugplatz-koblenz-winningen.de/
The field sits on the top of a hill. The view from the circuit over the Moselle Valley is really beautiful.
I will post pictures ASAP (one of the passengers shot them).

Here are some more: the field, building downtown and the terrace where we had lunch.

What a lovely place. Thank you for posting the pics. Wine growing areas almost always are very photogenic, this is more so.

Hi Jean
Thanks for posting some photos, looks really nice! I guess you do not want to land long, and run off the end of the airstrip and into the river valley.
Cheers
