You can find summertime daytime high temperatures of 90+ deg F in most of the interior of the country. I've seen it in the Williamette Valley in Oregon.

I'm interested but don't plan to do major travel until I get vaccinated, so I prefer the September timeframe over trying to cram it in this spring.

If I end up missing it then I'm hoping to do a cross-country tour at some point and will just visit you all individually. :)

best,
dan

How about this: 3 regional fly-ins to accommodate those of us with the small tank and slower planes? KILE is about a 1500 nm flight for me - 2 days each way in thunderstorm season. It's essentially identical to flying to the Chicago area. I'm thinking Utah or Colorado for us Westerners. In fact if it were Eastern Colorado, 2 different ones would suffice.

I’m with Rich... 2 or at most 3 fly-ins makes sense to me.

OK, so does anyone want to take the lead on setting up a Denver-area fly-in, say, in July? I know of couple of us are based in the area and I used to be (until 1991).

KBJC is a good option, as is KFNL. Certainly not the only choices but lots of ramp space and good IFR access. KEIK was where my PA28 met its demise in 1983 (look up N2893T) and it appears the runway is a bit shorter than it was then.

If there's interest and no one else wants to take point I'll go ahead and do so.

Good idea!
Make it three regions.
But, I'm okay flying to Colorado as well :D

I'll be calling around a bit probably Tuesday to see about ins and outs for the Denver environs. I'm thinking some weekend in mid-late July. Some stuff I'll check into:

1. See if we could arrange something like a BBQ catered at the field on one night.
2. What other things might be going one? Possibly other type-flyins that same weekend? Is that a good or bad thing? I'm thinking good.
3. I'm leaning to KFNL, but not averse to other opinions. There are car rentals available and hotels nearby.
4. No real events, per se, unlike a Diamond Fest. But there is a flight museum of sorts at Lafayette.

We'd probably fly in ahead of time as we're both retired and we still have folks we know in the area, including a daughter and her husband. Any weekend preferable to anyone? Chime in.
