Very interesting. Also buried in that press release are plans for several DA-50 variations with a choice of engines.
I couldnt find much online besides this just posted today:

Perhaps Diamond has been following the forum?

Ouch... don't like the DA50 firework!
In fact... don't even believe! This is just testing the market.
Way too many engine versions for a maximum sales potential of a couple hundred per year...
... and not a single proven engine.
Of the whole bunch of powerplants being trumpeted, only the 230 HP SMA is certified today. And its brief operational history at Cessna has been... er...
If this announcement ever materializes, I trust DA50 buyers will thoroughly read the paragraph titled "engine warranty" in their purchase agreement.
And let us see what happens to Austro and the Austro customer base. I feel sorry for the poor guys - what a slap in their face...

Re: Diamond, Dart-280 Helicoptor
I loved the comment provided by Christian Dries when queried about the helicopter. “Diamond has been in the GA market for 30 years and it’s time to try something new," CEO Christian Dries said, according to FI. “Why not?”
Guess he has a bunch of money burning a hole in his pocket from the sale of the 60% stake in Diamond Canada.
Just got back from a couple of days at Sun-N-Fun. Looked around for some sort of presence from Diamond - never found it. Kind of disappointing, but not too surprising.
