Re: GFC700 went offline
I was descending via VS mode today with my GFC700 autopilot and got the aural alert with the red AFCS box on the PFD. Soon after that alert, the alert changed to a red PFT box. There was a data path failure alert that also showed up in the G1000 alert section. The flight director was working normall...

Re: Corked Nose Wheel
Just wanted to say my left leg is tired after a 3.5hr flight with the corked wheel. This seems like a silly problem to have. Do other aircraft types have similar issues? If this is always the case, adjusting the rudder trim tab is in order. No, its definitely the corked nosewheel issues. Took off w...

Re: NG vs XLS
I looked an a new NG vs a used Lycoming. I liked a lot of things about the NG. Decision for me came down to two things. 1. Service concerns: nobody close to me has worked on an Austro. Mine wasn’t going to be their first. 2. Maintenance costs: The Lycoming costs over time are well known. The Austro ...

Re: Quick Tip: Aeronautical Map with AutoHighlight in ForeFlight
Nice video. Definitely some good points there. ForeFlight, like the G100, or any other software usually has many ways to do the same thing. It’s really up to the user/pilot to figure out which method works for their flow. That flow might be different for route planning vs. en route situational aware...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
The problem is why does DAI control what's in your airplane, when most other aircraft owners are free to decide what to put in their airplane? Why does DAI grant Garmin a monopoly on Diamond aircraft, to the detriment of their owners? I understand what's in that for Garmin. I don't understand what'...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
Since it's going to be via video conferencing, couldn't we all join in to listen in? Clearly we don't all need to be able to speak.

Re: Maintaining proficiency in these times
I would think it is perfectly fine to go fly and practice. There is less traffic currently. If you're worried about it, I would suggest calling the airport controllers and just politely asking.
