Re: Corked Nose Wheel

That’s looking very promising Steve!! Once you feel you have fine tuned your fin into a final product, I’m sure a lot of us would love to get some measurements and more specifics, maybe even a crude blueprint to help fabricate our own. Thanks so much for the time put into this. I have a 2004 DA40 an...

Re: Rubber strip replacement

Some years back on this site there was a discussion of using "glider tape", perhaps more properly known as gap seal tape, in lieu of that seal provided by Diamond at the wing root juncture. Perhaps someone that has done that could comment on their experience. Save that, the seal strip mat...

Re: Bound mixture cable engine failure

Nick: I am very familiar with this assembly (having had to remove and install it for my recent engine work). Looking at your photo, I noticed that the safety wire is missing from the bracket bolt. Did the bolt loosen and allow the bracket to rotate out of position? Also, the degree of "cocking...

Bound mixture cable engine failure

Admittedly, that subject headline is a bit “click-baity” :D , but I had an experience that could have been extremely serious. Last weekend after starting the motor on my DA40, when I pulled the mixture back for taxi it felt unusual, lots of resistance, almost like it was grinding. After pushing if f...

Re: Why I hate annuals!

Juan: Mine doesn't have any dents like that. That is a pretty robust part of the fuselage, plus the folks at the factory are pretty good about surface finish. I feel your pain, and I am fortunate that all maintenance/inspections on my airplane have been done in my hangar by myself and my A&P/IA...

Re: Noise in icing

Same here! And I have a 2004 DA40. Twice I’ve had to descend through a layer of icing building up moderate clear icing on the leading edges and the prop, and both times the suction/buffeting sound occurred in the cabin. I assumed the icing buildup was occurring in the NACA air inlet under the wing.

Re: ADSB upgrade issues....

Software version? Isn't one of our big issues on another thread the inability to get software updates on the legacy G1000? What am I missing? When you take your diamond to the avionics shop, they will tell you what you all need. No, your plane isn’t waas, but the 345 you put in it will have waas bu...

Re: ADSB upgrade issues....

I was under the impression that you need WAAS on the G1000 in order to see traffic You need the later software version (that comes with the WAAS upgrade) to get ADS-B weather. Traffic works with all models. I have a non WAAS G1000 and get traffic just fine. We also have the TAS box and targets from...

Re: ADSB upgrade issues....

I have the non WAAS G1000 as well. From what I’ve read and looked up, I will not see ADSB traffic on the traffic page of my legacy G1000. However, the GTX345R is Bluetooth ready, so I am able to see traffic on ForeFlight so long as I pair my iPad. The GTX345R is supposed to be able to pair simultan...

Re: ADSB upgrade issues....

Since my software was updated to 321.23, I have the same issue. When turning during taxi, i get a low fuel warning. I need to go back to the avionics shop for my ADS-B install, what do I need to tell them to do to fix this? Thank you, Curt I am still having this issue as well, Curt. Did you ever fi...
