Re: Grass Field Operations

If you fly two feet off the turf in ground effect, if you lose an engine can't you just drop it back onto the turf? (Wouldn't it almost drop itself if you were losing an engine?) I know you would start to slew, and below Vmc you can't have full control, but in practice don't you think you'd get it b...

Re: 2.0s in da42 TDi

Is 100% power really 100% of the power the engine can generate?

I admit that during training I always thought of it as "100% of the power I am allowed to ask the engine to generate," which could obviously be a limited figure below that which a car might ask the engine to generate.

Re: DA40 crash in Russia

It reminds me of an SR22 accident here in SoCal where the CFI pulled the mixture on departure to simulate an engine failure on takeoff.

They both died in the resulting stall spin.

"On hold" means that if some billionaire was interested and wanted to write a check for $200m they would restart the program and start making D-Jets.

Re: Would you ?

Antoine, the photograph fell off my blog, but the entry is still there: http://flyingsummers.com/2007/10/07/lesson/ I woke up so many times as storms blew across Long Island, and in the morning drove over to check on the plane. Apparently the guy I talked to who said he'd make sure it was tied down ...

Re: Driver's License Medical

A friend is probably close to losing his medical, I think because he's getting his knees replaced or something. He's worried about it. He dumped his Bonanza and ordered an LSA. The LSA has a touchscreen glass panel (Dynon) and autopilot. Very slick two seater. I said it was too bad he wouldn't be al...
