Re: Effect of DA 20 Wheel Fairings

One piece of advice - Make sure you carry a small wrench to remove your pant if needed (I keep a small crescent wrench in the side pocket for just this purpose). I did experience a flat on landing a while back coming into a non-towered field. Came to full stop on r/w fine but could not turn a/c to l...

Re: DA20 tire recommendations

Per the wheel pants, I'm normally operating on asphalt but I have taken my DA-20 up to Triple Tree grass strip for their fly-in a couple of times. Tire pressure is everything with regard to how much clearance your pants will have over the grass. Last time I went to TT, instead of keeping the mains a...

Re: Eclipse Rear Window Cracks

Joey, Owner to Owner, sorry but I have no experience to offer. If you have not looked at the DA20-C1 AMM 56-11-00 "REPLACEMENT OF THE REAR WINDOW" recommend scanning through the 28 steps in the AMM to replace the window. I'm sure the best place to start is ask an authorized service center ...

Re: DA20

Krea, Thanks for the timely info - turns out I have just started working on my instrument rating and it would be very helpful to file IFR as I work through my syllabus. My CFII just converted his military time into the civilian side so he may not have been aware of this FAA order. So far, I have fou...

Re: DA 20 safety

Believe the USAF walked away from Diamonds due to the location of the USAF academy - specifically its altitude. They needed something that did not mind starting at 4-6K feet. You need a bigger engine for that and thus the economical Diamonds don't fit the mission as others. I fly my DA-20 in Florida...

Re: DA20

Jay, Much of your training is about emergency situations. Engine Out is certainly at the top of the list. I had the same thoughts as you about finding a safe training aircraft when I started working on my PPL. Any paranoia you have now will turn into understanding as work through your training sylla...

Re: iPhone 6 Plus

In my DA-20, I have a RAM mount for my iPad Mini that positions it over the breakers on the right side of the panel. In either a horizontal or vertical configuration, I find that it is just small enough to stay above my knees when I am in the right seat (I'm 6'1"). It works wonderfully if you a...
