Re: Slick start

Slick Start left, SureFly right on mine. Best of both worlds. Was pretty easy to start before the SF but now it's a no-brainer.

I wonder if signal transmission through the carbon fiber of the DA62 is more difficult than the DA40 fiberglass. Too bad it's mounted under the relatively crowded cockpit vs. the tail.

Re: Canada ADS-B Diversity Requirement

I was wondering if there are any new thoughts or updates on this topic now that diversity is a requirement for Canadian Class A airspace (as of 10-August). I have a bucket list item to fly to Alaska through the Yukon Territory, but I don't see that as possible with my current equipment (Legacy G1000...

Re: Tiedown for DA40

Holes on previous posts much larger than mine unfortunately. I don't think I could fit that strap through.

I got a soft shackle a while back, I will try that next.

Re: Tiedown for DA40

Regarding the earlier discussion on this thread from many years ago- I finally found the perfect solution to adapting Slidedown to the tiny tail tie down hole: soft loop motorcycle tie downs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YFDTQ5S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share It’s a small length of heavy duty webbing wit...

They will cut to fit your request, just ask.

Re: Tail tiedown hook

The hole in your tail is much larger than mine, and some are smaller yet (a friend's DA20 for example).

Re: Thoughts on a 2004/2005 DA-40

I have a 2004 upgraded to WAAS. The G1000 was installed in new airplanes until at least 2016 and not something I worry about, although I expect to get something newer within the next 10 years. Like Jaydon says, the KAP-140 is the weakest link. An upgrade to GFC 700 is available at the factory in Lon...

Re: Annual Costs

Last year I brought mine to Infinity at KASH and had a very good experience. It came to ~$7700 but I had the wing spar AD taken care of, GWI kit, window caulk, G1000 backup battery, rebuild nose fork, and numerous other minor squawks. They were very thorough fixing some things that I had neglected t...
