Re: DA62 Horizontal stabilizer AD

The AD is enforcing MSB-62-052 which applies to anybody who had a 100hr service, or had the stabilizer removed. What doesn't make sense to me is that it only applies to certain s/n's which would seem like a factory build issue. If the AMM is wrong, then why wouldn't any 62 that had a 100hr service h...

Cool fuel

Anybody have idea why there would be such a difference in the fuel temperature in these two DA62 tanks?

My understanding is that each engine returns fuel to the associated wing tank. There had been no transfer from the aux tanks.

DA62 Horizontal stabilizer AD

I think this is new. Not traumatic and only affects serial numbers 62.C001 through 62.C044 and 62.008 through 62.203.

Re: Austro Wizard - Don't Leave Home Without It

As I read FAA-G-8082-19, an IA is required to inspect any major repairs. A primary responsibility of the holder of an IA is to determine airworthiness by inspecting repairs or alterations for conformity to approved data, and assuring that the aircraft is in a condition for safe operation. During ins...

Austro Wizard - Don't Leave Home Without It

Once with my DA40NG, and again with my DA62, I’ve had Austro engine problems which forced a “land at nearest”. Other than the obvious change in engine performance, the only clue was the ubiquitous “ECU Fail”. The first time it happened, I had no dongle or laptop, but fortunately the airport was clos...

NXi Phase 2 airway workaround

There is a bug in the Phase 2 release of the Diamond G1000 NXi software which prevents expanding an airway to show the waypoints along the airway. I’ve found this to be a problem from time to time when ATC vectors me, then directs me to a waypoint along the airway other than the “on ramp” waypoint i...

Re: MSB-E4-042 - Crankshaft-bearing cap screws replacement

Not sure that 40NG, 42-VI and 62 makes any difference; same engine. My DA62 was completed after six weeks which was certainly the bad part of the experience. Beyond that, it flies just like before. I can't tell there are six new bolts in each engine. But of course I was happy before it was grounded ...

Re: The glaring weaknesses in flight training

Can you imagine GA pilots shelling out $5k every 6 months for recurrent training Well, the real question is whether the insurance companies can imagine requiring it for decent rates, and whether the claims/accidents they see would be affected by this training. I suspect they'd rather see 5k every 6...

Re: Parts Delays and Diamond Supplier Issues?

What is leaking? Is it the oil into the turbocharger? Is it the exhaust/air pressure on one side or the other?
