Re: Flap indicator light replacement
I know this is an old thread and this is a slightly different issue. Our flaps up indication does not work. I've replaced the bulb with a new one and then a known good bulb - still no up indication. The flaps operate normally to T/O and LDG and to UP. I suspect the flaps up microswitch (S1) is bad o...

Re: LED replacements for interior "map" lights?
Awesome. Please lets us know what they say! Mine also have a bead of silicone around the perimeter, despite as you note the MSB saying not to. According to Diamond Canada, the Terostat sealant is for the rear map light only. They did indicate they did use 100% silicone around the front map lights. ...

Re: DA20
Jay, PS - you cannot file IFR in a DA-20 but you can certainly do a lot of IFR training in a DA-20 if you have the avionics. Fair winds and good luck! See FAA order 8900.1 Section 5-439, copied below. We have filed IFR several times in our DA-20 and I know for a fact that Falcon Aviation in FFC doe...

Re: LED replacements for interior "map" lights?
while I see that it is not actually stated in the MM, I first saw it referenced in the MSB for emergency exit lever check, which calls for removal and replacement of a light unit. The MSB has pictures of the stuff and where it goes. See the attached doc. Thanks much. Interesting that it is not cove...

Re: LED replacements for interior "map" lights?
Where in the M/M does it talk about the use of Terostat sealant (or any sealant) when removing or reinstalling a map/reading light? We are in the middle of replacing a failed GPS/WAAS antenna and of course, the reading light has to be removed. No question that Diamond has used some sort of RTV type ...

Re: canopy gas strut replacement
I understand the differing views on this. When we first bought our DA20 (which was our first GA airplane), I was meticulous almost to the point of obsessive about ensuring that any part replaced was the exact replacement that Diamond had specified. It was difficult on the DA20 to do this as the part...

Use of certified replacement parts (re: canopy gas strut replacement)
I know this will sound like a broken record, but... Guys/Gals - these are Certified airplanes. Chances are slim you would ever be ramp checked, etc., but you are gambling when you do this. If it is an identical part number, then you can buy the part anywhere - it does not have to be from Diamond. If...

Re: DA20 tire recommendations
Thanks Krea. Yes, Peachtree City. Regarding grass strips, any issues with leaving the wheel pants on? Any operating tips on grass unique to the DA20? The fiberglass wheel pants on the 20 are pretty stout, in comparison to the carbon fiber ones on the newer 40's. The 20 pants are off the plane right...

Re: DA20 tire recommendations
We have used Air Hawks on the mains of our DA20-A1 for some time now without incident. The nose tire is more of an issue, as it is small and very expensive. Ours is a Goodyear, but the "good" news is it seldom needs replacement. We just replaced ours for the first time at the recent annual...

Re: DA 20 safety
Thanks for taking the time to reply everybody. Your thoughtful responses are very helpful. krellis, the fact that you had your wife and kids learn to fly in a DA-20 pretty much says it all. Just found another flight school in town that trains in a DA-40. Anyone think that's as good or better than t...
