Re: Outdated Garmin G1000 software - petition sign-up

One of Diamonds representative during friedrichshafen told me that it is possible to upgrade to G1000 NXi and he is going to send me a quote. (My aircraft is DA42NG) I had talked to Garmin at Airventure last year, and they are looking at providing an upgrade path to NXi for existing legacy G1000 in...

Re: GPS Hiccup Coming?

I have a AFS-5600 in my expiremental. Advance Flight Design sent out an email advising us to install a patch. It was noted that GPS location was not an issue but many other things were affected. I've not heard if the G1000 programming/hardware have a problem with the Rollover. Since the G1000 was c...

Re: Piston power

I think they are basing the model on a couple of factors. 1. Hedge model. They are charging just above the median costs among the fleet. Since the plans are focused more engines; it since a fair number of planes share the engine basics, it is likely possible to calculate the odds. 2. 200 hours a yea...

Re: NG40 VS IO-360 real user pros and cons appreciated

Very cool. Congrats. A thread on life with the NG compared to previous life with the IO360 would be neat.

Re: The ‘other’ ADS-B

I learned something this week that might be useful on this topic. Some transponders have "diversity" meaning that they use two antennas, top and bottom. The GTX 345R does not have diversity, but this person was speculating that the next generation of Garmin transponders might have it, in ...

Re: Austro Engines

I think it's clear that Austro does not develop engines, it adapts engines. I believe an entirely new engine from scratch is beyond both their interests and capabilities. The evidence is in the DA50 which is being introduced with an engine from SAFRAN/SMA. Likely HP was the largest factor; also SMA...

Re: Outdated Garmin G1000 software - petition sign-up

Very interesting and informed discussion among G1000, non-waas Mooney owners. It seems we are not alone. https://mooneyspace.com/topic/26554-g1000-waas-upgrade-parts-availability-ending/?do=findComment&comment=434685 This is what prompted me post the following thread here (I am tspear on Mooney...

Re: Austro Engines

They re-certified to put the NG on the DA42 in the first place, it seems short-sighted not to use the opportunity to move up in engine technology. But I'm not writing the checks and I don't know what that effort cost them. Diamond didn't have a choice back in 2008 with Thielert going bankrupt; it w...

Re: Outdated Garmin G1000 software - petition sign-up

Maybe forum members have read this info in other thread but let me repeat it here: Diamond will release comprehensive info on upgrades for legacy avionics in early April during Aero 2019 in Friedrichshafen. I'll be there to get info first hand :) Are you sure on the date? My read on the thread was ...
