Re: XM Wx

Talked to the avionics shop that worked on it last. They think they might have failed to install the software for the GDL69 unit when they re-installed the G1000 software. Great! Another trip to the avionics shop. Yeah, that would do it! At least the good news is - it's a simple 5-minute fix (once ...

Re: Avweb on flying the DA42 V1

Not much price difference: a new DA52DashSeven will cost you 1.2 Million $. For the same price but 30k hours more on the clock you get a DeHavilland DashSeven. I am not sure about the gasmilage and possible fuel- and maintenance costs, though... The DeHavilland will haul a LOT more stuff, though. I...

Wally, on the last AUX page (SYSTEM STATUS) it should list the GDL69 and show a green checkmark. In your case, does the GDL69 show up in the list, and if so, is it red or green?

Re: XM Wx

I had a subscription to XM Wx that for some reason has expired. XM could not tell me why. In order to renew I need the ID of the GDL-69 but I can't seem to find where that is displayed on the G1000. Do any of you aviators extraordinaire know how to display that info? 125HA 2004 DA40 On the MFD, go ...

Re: HD Go Pro Video

I like the camera position on the DA42 video. Does anyone know how they mounted the GoPro for that? I'd love to do that on my DA40 on the next flight. It looks to me like they stuck it under the horizontal stabalizer of the DA42, probably using the suction cup mount supplied with the camera. Tim ha...

Anyone had differing costs of installation?
That GOT to be a typo, right? Maybe they left out the decimal point???

Re: DA40 HID Lights from Lo Presti ...

I can certainly vouch for the fact that the XeVision HIDs are a HUGE improvement over the old Wheelan lights, having replaced the (useless) original OEM bulbs with 50W HIDs in my first DA40! Does anyone know how the "standard" HID lights provided by Diamond on the XL and XLS models compare...

Re: TAS 600recommendations?

I agree with everyone else, too. Having moved from a DA40 with the G1000 default TIS to one with a TAS600, I am now seeing more targets and no more false positives. The two main problems I had with TIS were lack of coverage (plus the existing TIS sites are gradually being phased out!), and I would s...

Re: Black Diamonds Aero

Our fleet average speed is 118 kts burning 8.7 gph. Kai, is that 118 TAS or IAS? How did you arrive at that number? This was just a superficial average I drew from the last 50 reports of DA40s. The speed was calculated on the true distance covered and the total time. I can get more accurate numbers...
