Re: What is the true cost of owning a DA20?

250nm sounds like a nice excuse for a flight... Of course, you need to make friends with some people on the field to then pick you up and drop you back when it is complete...

Any excuse to fly.

Re: Transitioning to DA42 questions

And I wish ForeFlight would finish their acquisition of JetFuelX and incorporate it into their maps. That would be SO helpful.

Re: Transitioning to DA42 questions

I believe I had 17hrs in the DA42 before I took ( and failed ) the check ride. One more landing in a couple weeks and I passed. Other than discussing the plane's system during the verbal portion of the checkride, and doing a pre-flight and briefing that were obviously specific to the plane, I don't ...

Re: Prop strike

There is a composite Hartzell that I always pined for when I had my DA40. Much better construction than the MT composite. Lighter than the aluminum model.

Re: Transitioning to DA42 questions

I haven't flown any other twin, but I can tell you the transition from a DA40 was much easier than I expected. I actually went from three levers to control the power to only two. And when I lose an engine I'm down to just the one. I spent fifteen hours flying around on a single engine and when I cra...

Re: I did it

I wish we had a little detail on the interior supplier. Everything was sounding AMAZING and then seemed like it fell apart. I just did a new interior on my plane and would have considered them more seriously if your experience had been smoother.

Re: Your guesstimate: TKS for DA40

Casting my mind back to my DA40 days, I would have done $40k in a heartbeat. Now that I *own* one of these sugared-alcohol pumping systems... there are a LOT of if's in there before I would plunk down what will probably be $60k. Right now the factory is chasing a possible leak in one of the many o-r...
