Re: KAP140 Autopilot Pitch Fault

The KAP 140 gets it's altitude reference from the static fitting behind the Controller. It is not connected to the altitude encoder as far as I know. Thats what I thought all along, but today while practicing partial panel with ADC and AHRS breakers pulled I have noticed KAP140 showing --- in place...

Re: 1000 hour inspection

I would prefer if the cost for various standard maintenance tasks were published by the shops in advance. Our only defense is to publish what we have been charged in the wiki section. Yeah, the wiki might be the best place for this sort of information, instead of another forum topic. Maybe a new wi...

Re: Flood Light Rheostat Function

Thank you Rick!!! Now I need to figure out why my rheostat does not work. Strange that it functions as an on / off switch but not as a dimmer. If it were broken, it seems to me it would not come on at all. The dimmer and the switch are electrically separate units, so it would be possible for the di...

Re: 1000 hour inspection

Any particular reason for so many hours - just does not look that complicated. On another SB Diamond indicates you can replace a rudder in one hour. BIG difference between replacing the rudder, and replacing the cables. The rudder simply bolts to a plate where the cables attach. You can remove the ...

The plug you will need is a Nexus U174/U - looks sort of like a stubby 1/4" audio plug with 4 connections...

Re: Flood Light Rheostat Function

My question is does the right knob (labled "flood lights) control brightness or just turn the flood lights on and off? On mine, it just turns the lights on and off, there is no brightness control. The dimmers should control the flood light and panel lighting levels - and I'm pretty sure this i...

Re: Flood Light Rheostat Function

I think we are talking about 2 different things. There are the panel lights for night flight that are controlled by knobs at the top left of the panel and they do dim by turning either one of them. The second is the G1000 displays that dim by pressing the menu function on the PFD and selecting the ...

Re: G1000 MFD Failure

The G1000 does seem to be a bit temperamental. I am now at the 100hr mark and it has now begun to boot up with all the engine gauges red X out on almost all flights. It has taken up to 6 reboots to finally get them to work which doesn’t provide you with a lot of confidence. It is going in tomorrow ...

Re: KAP140 Autopilot Pitch Fault

Today I confirmed my hypothesis, in the morning after 45F night pitch refused to initialize failing at step 3. I will check again, but I don't think my AP selftest fails at step 3 - I think it completes succesfully, even when I have this failure. Now that it's warmer, though, maybe I won't see it a...

Re: Flood Light Rheostat Function

Rick, I have a 2004 G1000 as well, with the latest ver 321.22. Do you know how to configure to allow the dimmer to control screen brightness? I currently have to go several steps through the menu to get to the screen brightness adjustment via the FMS knob. Any shop familiar with the G1000 should be...
