Re: iPad in DA40
Because I just can't quit fiddling around (Did I mention I have 5 windscreens for my bike?). In this mode the AHARS/synth vision presents right in front of me. It's still mounted on that stalk from the right side. iPad Pro 11 Landscape.jpg BTW, note the right-angle power connecting cable. I use thes...

Re: Corked Nose Wheel
I just flew my first long distance cross country flights from Michigan down to Florida. On most flights at 8-9000 ft I have to apply right rudder to center the ball, to varying degrees. Is this corked nose wheel or trim tab caused? I also had a noticeable nosewheel shimmy on one landing which may h...

Re: Glareshield burned because of sun - very strange
I haven't seen it in the Diamond but I have seen this happen in motorcycles. What happens there is a small part of the edge of the windscreen acts like a magnifying lens and concentrates the sunlight onto a particular part of the plastic fairing below, melting it. Perhaps in your case there is a sma...

Re: iPad in DA40
What is the size of your flex arm ? I bought it years ago. I believe it's 6". The ball-end adapters make it about 9" center-center. I don't see it on RAM's web site any longer, but I do see the adapters there and the arm is available on Amazon. I also see a 12" which might work and o...

Re: iPad in DA40
Looks good. Isn’t it too shaky ? Nope. To elaborate, the "flexible" arm isn't. You can intentionally deflect the thing elastically a bit in flight if you choose, as there is flex in the rubber balls. But it doesn't move on its own. And the iPad is isolated from engine/airplane vibration.

Re: What tug to get?
I use a Best Tugs Alpha 3 but still need metal ramps to get across my hangar door tracks. The plane still needs to be lined up perfectly as the plane will twist if one main gear hits the ramp before the other. I just ordered an Alpha 3. Do you have a recommendation for metal ramps? I was hoping the...

Re: Just got my DA40! What should I do??
I just bought my own 2004 DA-40 so I don’t know anything but here’s what I just bought.. New 2 blade Hartzell prop so I could install the Powerflow exhaust.. my opinion only but don’t waste the money on WASS. You can still shoot GPS approaches and of course ILS is gonna be around for a long time.. ...

Re: Just got my DA40! What should I do??
Awesome info. Thanks! You mentioned having the 35 watt...do you ever wish you would have gotten the 50 watt? Or does that require the breaker change? I don't know if the 50-watt ones are STC'd for the DA40 or not. In any case the 35's are terrific and I do. Mostly where the brighter light is needed...
