Re: DA50 Owners: PIREPS Appreciated!
Anyone have the scoop on where Diamond will add some more fuel capacity to the plane? There is this item heard during the maintenance course: "At the request of a customer, and it must have been a very good customer, they once made a wet wing DA62ER to hold more fuel for Extended Range. I aske...

Re: DA-42 in-flight engine failure
As I recall it is the coloration of the gear. The darker color indicated the gear was running hot because of excessive friction. Something to do with a "stack up" of tolerances of parts behind the gear. Diamond said if there was any question to take a picture and send it to them for a deci...

Re: DA-42 in-flight engine failure
Update 5th Sep 2023: Today, after 12 days, the same mechanic came to change the fuel pump. When removing the old one he found pieces of gears (not sure which - I am still waiting for the report and images). This most probably means that the aircraft will need a new engine. Probably this gear which ...

Re: DA62 seat comfort
I have ordered front seat memory foam cushions from Oregon Aero for my DA40, SR22 and DA42. Turns the hard Diamond seats into a comfortable all day cross country ride. I don't see any back seat options on their website but they did do custom modifications for me once. Might be worth a call. https://...

Re: Quick Tip: Pop-up IFR Clearance
I'll be over a city with nothing, yet I had solid 5G in the middle of absolute nowhere at 11,000ft. Actually that makes perfect sense: Mobile phone cellular antennas all have horizontal radiation patterns to service people on the ground. So if you're flying right above a city you'll get little or n...

Re: Canopy Latch gas strut
In the hangar I leave the canopy, passenger door and the nose compartment doors all unlatched on the DA42. Figuring I was helping to keep the seals springy.

Re: This makes my skin crawl...
In case the Diamond pilot is a reader here I'm going to tell a story. 2,000 hours ago I got my PPL at a rural non-towered airport. We rarely ventured out of the local area and if there was any training on how to handle D/C/B airspace it was brief and theoretical. Real world training consisted of exa...

Re: Newbie Question 1 - Flaps UP takeoff
" That's something I'm also curious about. Diamond twins have dramatically less power in each engine than legacy prop twins, and can't really be compared to turboprops. But does that matter? " Remember the ten factors that determine Vmc? One is power. More power = more asymmetric thrust = ...
