Re: What comes after a DA40?
Antoine, While I am officially jealous, all I can say is looking at the PFD it seems you were applying too much left rudder :) For everyone else, take advantage of your ability to fly as long as you can. For those of us who have developed medical issues we find the flying addiction never goes away a...

Good news for Diamond?
It seems that Republic is going to use Diamond aircraft (DA40 and DA42) to train new pilots with guarantee to become right seat pilot for the airline. Maybe this will spur further sales of Diamond planes in the US. https://www.avweb.com/eletter/archives/101/4075-full.html?ET=avweb:e4075:315676a:&...

Re: Fuel Temp
Unlike with jet or turboprop engines, Austro or Thielert/Continental diesel aircraft engines running on JetA don't need to use Prist when flying in very cold conditions -- because a substantial percentage of the fuel is automatically heated when it flows through the engine's high pressure common ra...

Re: Fuel Temp
Often when I purchase JetA I have no choice but to purchase it with Prist already added. That's OK, since Prist has no adverse effect on diesel engine operation. Dave, I know that you know this, but I think it best for JetA pilots to be aware (as there has been many accidents caused by the lack of ...

Re: Where Are All the Used DA-42s?
I gather that Theilert became Centurion and has now been purchased buy Continental. Are they actually producing the engines in Mobile at the TCM plant? I know that Continental has a repair shop at Fairhope Al miles from the plant. I wonder whether they can take care of gearboxes and fuel manifolds ...

Re: Where Are All the Used DA-42s?
It is really too bad that they aren't trying to move these planes. The DA42 is not the fastest plane in the world, but it is such a safe twin that I can't imagine flying any other twin for the price. N336TS took my wife and I all over this country, from Maine to Florida on the east, to Los Angeles a...

Re: Where Are All the Used DA-42s?
Just speculating here. But could it be that the plane is involved in a lawsuit so sales advertising is on hold til lawsuit is resolved? Again, only guessing here. No, the law suit was settled more than 2 years ago. They have had the plane just sitting there (along with any others that may have been...

Re: Where Are All the Used DA-42s?
Wow...even all the Diamond pre-owned aircraft on the DAC website are listed as sold. https://www.diamondaircraft.com/our-aircraft/certified-pre-owned/for-sale/ Don't believe everything you see on that web site. My DA42 has been sitting with Diamond there for 2 years and has yet to be advertised. I ...

Re: GA friendly airport around DC?
I started the process to gain access to the FRZ on April 23rd for a planned flight on May 17th. I'm not complete yet, but it really hasn't been that difficult. I've just been following the directions of the website for College Park airport and the people I've communicated with on that end have been...

Re: Max Fuel Capacity
On the DA42, I found that the leakage only occurs on the right hand tank. I can fill the left hand tank to the top without losing any fuel, but if the right hand tank is fueled above the tab (as mentioned in other posts) it will always leak out the vent.
