Re: DA42 or DA62
... 60 USG of fuel... Again, we are talking real world numbers here, not hypotheticals. Per the AFM, a pilot may not take off with 60 gal of fuel on board unless they somehow ensure the mains contain exactly 33.6 (bad idea - full tanks allow for visual verification of quantity): If the auxiliary ta...

...empty weight 1410 kg... I think the OP is more interested in our real world experience than he is in book numbers. By "typically equipped" I meant that the aircraft includes air conditioning, built-in oxygen, radar, and TKS deicing system which adds (in my case) about 207 lbs, bringing...

Re: DA42 or DA62
I've owned both. 4 folks, 500nm would be tight for a DA42-VI. Typically equipped, you would have less than 575 payload (fully fueled), and less than 750 lb with empty aux tanks. Empty aux tanks could get you 4 folks with 20 lbs of luggage a piece, but not enough fuel for a reasonable IFR alternate u...

Not currently available on Amazon where I got it, but you might find it elsewhere by searching for it by model number: http://www.milwaukeehandtrucks.com/deta ... &x=37&y=23photoSteveZ wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 8:59 pm@ultraturtle: do you recall where you got that tilting dolly?

Re: Da62 Changes by year
That's lower than I would have expected. Did you get a credit for the GIA63Ws you "liberated" to be used for a Legacy WAAS upgrade to a plane that still has GIA63s? Yes I did. $76K was the net price for the upgrade plus all of the other work. LRUs returned and credit applied were: GIA63W ...

Re: Refilling TKS
I second the recommendation to buy a 55 gal drum from tksfluid.com . Hard to beat $12.65/gal ($624 plus $72 freight) - $11.65 if you use the $55 discount for your first order. The large quantity encourages one to not be stingy with it, as well as to run the system once a month throughout the year to...

Re: Da62 Changes by year
If you purchase a used 2016 Legacy G1000 DA62, it can be upgraded to NXi Phase I for about $100K. GTX345R for ADS-B In weather and traffic can be installed for about $12K... Might be a little less. I just got my Feb 2017 Legacy G1000 upgraded straight to NXi Phase II, with the GTX345R and Flight St...

Re: Current IFR rating?
Interesting point. IMC means not VMC, and VMC means you can fly VFR so IMC means you can't fly VFR. Basic VFR (FAR 91.155) requires 1,000' above. So you're saying that if the FAF is at 2,000'AGL, and the ceiling at the FAF is 2,900', that's IMC and the approach can be logged to satisfy currency. No...

Re: DA40NG Coolant Leak and ECU A Failure
I feel for you guys with the Austros - replacing gearboxes, pumps, injectors, ECU faults, coolant leaks. Yeah they run smooth and sip Jet-A, but I really don't see the advantages when you spend so much on repairs and suffer the downtime. Give me a Lycoming IO-360-M1B anytime (neighbor has 3500+ hou...

Re: Current IFR rating?
...the FAA definition is pretty strict requiring IMC after the FAF. I've been vectored, intercepted and flown an approach more than once when the IMC cleared before the FAF, ATC can't see the clouds. A few weeks ago I vectored all over, was told to intercept the approach, then had radar services ca...
