Re: Temporary ADS-B for DA40XLS
Thank you all for this information. It is looking more and more like I need to go the temporary exemption route. We have to depart northern Idaho and land at KFFZ (Falcon field, 14 NM east of Sky Harbor). There are a couple of small firewall mount ADS-B units that I'll investigate further but none l...

Temporary ADS-B for DA40XLS
I'm helping transport a 2008 XLS that needs ADS-B to a new location. The immediate need is a quick and easy to install ADS-B good enough to fly 1,000 miles and then consider a better long term solution that integrates fully with his G1000. Is there a quick even if temporary solution? uAvionix SkyBea...

Re: Optimal landing speed
Gary, I am less qualified than most to comment here but I'll share a few thoughts. I am usually landing at high DA airports under conditions of variable wind. At my main airport, the windsocks at each end of the runway often disagree. Maybe because of these conditions, I am in the group that likes t...

KMYL Airpoprt Open House and Fly-in -- July 6
Our annual Airpport Open House and Fly-in is Saturday July 6 this year. I would love to see a few Diamonds on the tarmack to keep my lonely bird company. Everyone is welcome for the day or the holiday. We have some interesting presentations.

Guidance for ADS-B Decision
Fellow DAN Members, Life happens and for me it has meant not being in a position to fly since last summer. I anticipate getting back in the air this spring and will soon face the ADS-B decision. Like many of you, I have been holding off for an integrated solution. Because of where I fly, my goal wou...

Re: How to repair loss of anti-glare on Garmin panels
Rich,
Bad news on the Amazon product. Mine was anti-glare but that was few years ago. I notice that the product image they are now showing now doesn't say "anti-glare" even though the product description still does.

Re: AHRS / Heading Indicator Gremlin
That sound you hear is me knocking on wood. :D I have yet to be graced with the big red X but I have seen occasional heading peturbations that I did not resolve. We have a lot of secret military testing in this area so I figured that might be the cause. I'll have to think back to see if lights might...

Re: AHRS / Heading Indicator Gremlin
Peter,
What kind of heading changes were you seeing with and without NAV lights?

Re: More Horsepower
Great points all Antoine. For me, the DA40 is a perfect aircraft 80-90% of the time. Most of my flying consists of short runs of less than an hour where I might veer off course to look at an Elk run or drop into a small rural strip for a local breakfast, punctuated by an occasional 900 mile trip to ...

More Horsepower
Other than the fantastic supercharger project we have watched develop here on DAN, has anyone modified or is anyone planning to modify our IO-360M1A engines to produce more HP? Is it not unusual to see these engines producing 225-235 HP with high compression heads and other modifications and they se...
