Re: DA40NXI Fuel Quantity

It is likely a G1000 configuration issue. Your plane appears to be a 2010 Lycoming DA40, and your post indicates NXI, not legacy G1000. That’s unexpected. Did you overhaul/upgrade your avionics? I'm in a flying club with 3 DA40s. All G1000 but three different vintages. I agree it's a configuration ...

DA40NXI Fuel Quantity

Is the inability to set a fuel quantity above 28 gallons a system limitation or a setting that can be changed? I'm not referring to the gauges. I sort of understand that. I'm referring to the "totalizer" information that can be entered manually - actual fuel added - and which displays fuel...

Re: Flying to St Barts for Lunch (in my DA42)

Great video. It was a long time ago. Before I became a pilot. We were on vacation on St Martin and did a side trip to St Barths. I don't know the model but best I recall it was a 8-seat, 6-passenger twin. Pilot put me in the right seat so I got to see this landing close up. Here's the thing. We land...

Re: Lean on final with high DA

I understand the importance of leaning before T/O with high DA to achieve the most power. So if you were doing pattern work would you still go full Rich on final for touch & goes? Also descending into the pattern from altitude, would you still refrain from going full Rich till final? Thanks in ...

Re: Current IFR rating?

So to maintain instrument currency, most GA pilots have to rely on periodic flying with a safety pilot and view-limiting device, or (even better) get with their CFI for an IPC. For maintaining currency I'm fortunate to be married to a safety pilot (and so is she :) ). But our DA62 insurance require...

Re: Current IFR rating?

How many of you actually fly 6 legal procedures and holds every 6 months for currency? And how many pilots go to the effort of still flying under the hood with a safety pilot? I do. Actual when weather and schedule cooperate. Safety pilot periodically. Training device to take of a lot of the "...

Re: Current IFR rating?

I don't own but I fly and teach in a 2005 (G1000/KAP 140) and 2014 (G1000/GFC 700) DA40.
Yes, my instrument rating (and CFII) are both current.

Re: Instruction and Time in Type

When an application asks for this, I give them my make/model totals abut put an asterisk next to it and, at the bottom, put my time in airplanes I think are similar. As far as I can tell, the underwriters consider it.

Re: Course reversal with G1000 & KAP 140

Or was it just an anomaly – basically a U-Turn due to lack of course guidance that just happened to be in the correct direction ? Yep. I"m an idiot. I was so surprised by the turn I didn't even realize it couldn't have been a teardrop since it didn't stop turning when it hit the 30 degree outb...
