Re: New DA 62 Owners
I “wasted” less money buying a 40 and flipping it than I would have done renting a beat up Cessna. And, it was a richer training experience. For me at least, in trying to go from zero to DA62 in as little calendar time as possible, minimizing the expense was pretty low on the priority list in any ev...

Re: New DA 62 Owners
Oh that’s a sweet one! Seller’s market for sure, I could have sold 10 like mine for at least what I paid for it. After thinking about it further, I stand by everything above, but I’d add that really anything more or less in the trainer class with G1000 and GFC700 would be fine. The DA40 is great bec...

Engine fail, customer service WIN
Fun weekend, went to Telluride in the DA62. KTEX wasn't reporting weather, so I asked Denver Center - winds calm. Great, head up the canyon, cancel IFR. Ask CTAF for a wind check - 19G28 straight across the runway. Not what you want in that canyon. Flew the pattern to 27 since I figured it would be ...

Re: Hubcaps?
Probably so, but they weren't as of S/N 010. Just trying to figure out if I want some. Do they interfere with checking/filling the tires?

Hubcaps?
Hi
A friend has a DA42-VI which has smooth ‘hubcaps’ on the mains, the theory being less drag with the gear up. The service center says they are available for the 62. Anyone have a before and after experience with these? Any noticeable difference (speed, fuel etc)?
Cheers
Jason

Gust lock
Hi Ok I tried and failed to get the gust lock on my plane. Seems like it should be similar to the DA40, which I know how to do, but for the 62 I’m missing something. Any pointers? Seems like the base goes over the top of the pedals, but the slots aren’t wide enough. Any clues much appreciated. Cheer...

Re: New DA 62 Owners
Mike, Happy to sell you mine! I’m kidding, but not really... A couple observations since I just did almost exactly what you’re wanting to do: If you can, buy a DA40 and sell it when you’re done with the Instrument rating. Pretty sure I’ll at least break even on my DA40 given the interest level is of...

Re: DA62 coolant leaks
This far I haven’t had the warning come on. I can see the right one leaking in flight - with the new tanks it’s just a little bubbling at the rear seam of the inboard nacelle cover. I’ve found this to be quite disconcerting to passengers... It’s a lot slower without the leaking cap on the older styl...
