Re: Mc Elroy (20V) or Central Colorado (AEJ) experience?
@photoSteveZ was recommending KAEJ as a location for a Diamond fly-in earlier this year... How about Colorado for a summer fly-in? Doesn't get much more central for the Lower 48 + Canada's southern tier. I'm thinking specifically of KAEJ, Central Colorado Regional in Buena Vista. While it is a high-...

Re: Refilling TKS
I tried the put the 10L container on top of the fuselage with a cloth underneath and a bulb siphon to fill the port. All was great until I overfilled the tank and had tks dripping from the plane for the next 10 minutes

Refilling TKS
I just ordered some of the approved tks fluids from sporty’s since my FBO didn’t have the one mentioned in the AFM. Now, I’m faced with how to get a 5 gallon bucket weighing 45+ lbs above my head to refill the tank… any advice? Also, do you always use the approved fluids or does any fluid from the F...

PIREP: Nantucket during a Presidential TFR
I didn't know that President Biden would be visiting KACK while I was there for thanksgiving holidays but he did and so I learned how to follow the instructions in the TFR. The first step was recognizing there wasn't going to be any VFR sightseeing flights around the island while he was there. Then ...

Re: The flip side of FADEC?
Steve, I've had the exact same issue as CFIDave. I was getting a LO COOL LVL before my coolant warmed up. This would eat up a row of cas messages and the L GLOW ON indication would show on the bottom of the "messages" tab on the G1000 but not on the rhs of the pfd. I would just open this a...

Likewise. With my arm on or off the armrest, it never drops below horizontal and has never interfered with the headset jacks at all.

Re: Would you buy another DA XX?
The fuel burn is better than advertised (7.2 gallons per hour per side at 75% rather than the book value of 7.4 while still delivering the advertised TAS). Try uploading your G1000 logs to flysto.net. They have a great section called "Cruise Performance" where it will compare your TAS,Fue...
