Re: Would you buy another DA XX?
I don't want to cross-topic but a few comments here made me think there was some progress between Diamond and Garmin in adding ADS-B to DA40 G1000 WAAS aircraft (my adding: ideally so traffic shows up along with TCAS on the MFD). I have been away for awhile and looking for the best available solutio...

Re: Would you buy another DA XX?
It is a great education to read all of these insightful comments and at the same time a little weird to find myself agreeing with all sides. If I flew more IFR in my DA40 (my wife doesn't like flying in the clouds), I would weigh the factors differently, especially Diamond's blatant disregard for th...

Re: Aviation Consumer DA40 Update
To date there are eight documented DA40 fatal accidents in the US (one this year). Agreed on the database. Looks like it was coded up decades ago by a COBOL person. Do you know if any of the fatal accidents involved fire? I heard a report of some DA40's or maybe 20's used in flight schools burning ...

Re: I need some G1000 avionics support in the Phoenix area
This is good to be on the lookout for. I use my phone quite a bit with Bluetooth linked to my headset. I don't think I have had an interference issue. I loved your Tillamook video. We had friends with a house in Pacific City and flew over from time to time. TMK was our choice because I was unwilling...

Re: Would you buy another DA XX?
I had a bit of an epiphany about a year ago when I was contemplating buying a second single engine 4-place aircraft to leave at Falcon Field when I was in Phoenix. I spent several hours looking at what was available on the used market, mostly at the dozen or so makes and models I have flown and am f...

Re: Best products for cleaning the plane
Interesting. I dunno. I suspect some rubber ducky antennas have high silicone contest. Some mobile phones are sealed with silicone sheets. Come to think of it, I have an old 80 meter trap long wire with silicone covering. Silicone is a decent insulator but not as good as fiberglass or acrylic. None ...

Re: Best products for cleaning the plane
There is a chance that a wax containing silicone was applied to my DA40 maybe 10 years ago. Is there a permanent change in play or does the clock run out eventually? Since I'm hangared when-not in the air, I can't make a case for much UV break down. What are the implications?

Re: 240V battery charger recommendations
To update my comment above. I looked at my Concorde BatteryMinder specs and it accepts an input of from 90 to 140 VAC at a frequency ranging from 47 to 63 Hz. This means that you don't need to worry about the frequency difference. This said. something about the above product on Amazon bothers me. Th...

Re: 240V battery charger recommendations
I agree with Steve. You want the precise voltages designed for the Concorde battery. Within a certain range, the BatteryMinder is insensitive to input voltage and the current is low. Any converter that gets you between 108 and 130 volts input under load will work.

Re: EGT
I had the exact thing happen in my DA 40 IO-360 when the engine was, I think, about 60 hours. It turned out to be an almost microscopic piece of plastic in the injector. Cleaned the injector. Back on my way only two hours late.
