Re: FBO towing experiences
I have no problem letting FBOs tow my DA40. My usual strategy at a large airport is to point my plane at the most expense thing on the ramp and without fail someone will come sprinting out within seconds to redirect me to a spot. I have scratches in my nose gear wheel pant but that's from my own pow...

How much should I pay for a DA40 battery?
I'm thinking of replacing mine on my '08 XLS. The shop doing my annual quoted me $700. I have no idea what battery I should get nor what they cost. Any help, much appreciated.

Re: DA 40 pre buy
Check the rudder for cracks at the attachment points. My plane is in for its annual now and is having this fixed. A&P says he sees it on quite a few DA40s. We could use a photo of this. Yep. I'm planning on posting pics of this when I get the plane back as well as pics of my prop disaster. Pass...

Re: Propeller anti-icing technique
Antoine, So I was a newly minted instrument pilot on a long cross country. I've come to realize, at least for now, the most dangerous time for me as a pilot has been the first 75 hours after getting my instrument rating. Anyway, I had been headed east enjoying a nice tailwind up high at 13,000 feet ...

Re: Propeller anti-icing technique
My real world experience is different. Ice will accumulate along the leading edge more than 3-4 inches, although not all the way to the top of the prop. I'd say maybe 6-8 inches. Also, there is no limit to how much ice will accumulate on the lower part of the prop or the spinner for that matter so i...

Re: Corrosion within the laminate
Colin, nice to see you posting again. Apologies for the total thread drift but I need to drop someone off at LAX next week and then leave my plane for two nights. Can you recommend the most convenient airport?

Re: Climb Fuel Burn Table
Everything I read on this subject seems to indicate flying too lean on takeoff is a common problem that should very much be avoided. My unscientific method is to enriched to peak RPM in the run up area (I taxi extra lean to avoid plug issues. This also makes it impossible to takeoff without enrichin...
