Re: Diesel smell in the cabin

I experienced this problem with a rented DA40NG that had a leak in the right wing tank. The plane always smelled of Jet-A. I also experienced this problem with a 62 that was overfilled and fuel had run down the wing and into the nacelle. You might check how the plane is being fueled. There should no...

Re: Hearing Aids

I wore my hearing aids under the headset while I took the test (my hearing aids turn themselves off when they detect that I'm wearing a headset) and the high frequency boost curve that the Lightspeed app then programmed into the headset looks a lot like the one my hearing aids use. Did you take the...

Re: utility page Departure Time

Great question! I've seen that problem since training in a 2008 C172. I submitted the question to Garmin.

haykinson wrote: Sat Oct 08, 2022 12:19 am I just started getting this problem. A quick spray of contact cleaner seems to have reduced the static quite a bit. My symptoms were pretty strong static, which reacted to me playing with the plugs.
When you have static it is breaking the Rx squelch? You're seeing the Rx light on the radio?

Re: COM static

Thanks, but my problem is triggering Rx, not Tx. I use a Lightspeed Zulu which has never been a problem. This static problem is only when there is NO traffic (Tx or Rx) on the radio. I hear other transmissions just fine and ATC always reports my radio as "loud and clear". The problem appe...

Re: DA42NG-VI Checklist

Every tried using MiraCheck, without the voice recognition? just checked it out! Incredible idea, but I guess until it reaches the level of voice assistance from futuristic movies I'd find it not so practical in real world application :-( Used a similar simpler app though for flying in an Extra as ...

Re: Air intake vent tape

The Austro engine is a little quieter than the Lycoming. Taping the vents makes a dramatic difference in the NG. Closing them entirely is even better and one of the nice things about flying in Winter!

Re: ECU Test (Ground Run-up)

Also on the subject of temperatures, he said the glow plug activation will not enunciate above 20C. Here in Florida the panel regularly shows the glow plug active above that. Yesterday the engine temp before start up was 24C and the glow plug enunciation came on for both engines. My DA40NG, hangare...

Re: ECU Test (Ground Run-up)

I think the proof would be in the run-up. My memory is that others who have tried a run-up with the gauges still in the yellow have been greeted with an ECU Failed.

Please let us know if you are able to pass the ECU test when the oil is in the yellow.
