Re: TKS line rubbing on governor

It turned out to be the TKS line rubbing against the governor and creating a groove in it. I don't think it would have severed the governor shell but, in principle, it was weaker with the groove then without. Eventually the line would have broken where it rubbed and the grooving would have stopped....

Re: MSB-E4-042 - Crankshaft-bearing cap screws replacement

I was told 20 hours per engine and that there was 289 engines affected. I would have a suggestion: do the quality control before actually using the parts in an engine. Not after a few hundreds are built and mounted on aircraft flying around the world. Just a thought. I'm no expert. You'd think that...

Re: Everglades

Thanks for the tips. It looks like this trip will not have to be in 2025.

Top slot.

I think anything up to 32GB will work.

Re: Dormant for 30 days

Have you checked the MSB on the main bearing cap screws? You may be on the ground for a few months.

Everglades

Looking to escape the rain and cold in Northern California. My wife is interested in visiting the Everglades. Anybody have any tips or suggestions for a visit to the Everglades National Park? How about restrictions or experience overlying the park? I'm assuming a 2,000' minimum, but other than that?...

Re: Dormant for 30 days

I don't believe you'll have any issues with the engine or airplane systems. There were times my 40NG sat for more than a month with no issues. My Mercedes diesel car sat for literally 9-10 months at a time across several years and started right up and ran fine. I always use a GPU when updating my na...

Re: Austro E4-C Performance at Altitude

I haven't seen this yet on my 62, but in my 40NG I would exceed prop speed before a power limitation. I forget the max prop RPM in the 40NG, but there was enough power to spin the prop faster than the upper limit and trigger the flashing overspeed indication on the MFD. Bottom line, I needed to pull...

It's all fun until the day it's not and the survivors find out the insurance is cancelled.
