Re: Diamond announces an electric DA40

This is the right way to go! A great step forward Diamond! I love my DA40NG because it is already so fuel efficient. But many trips are 90min or less (typical scenic flights) so for certain missions this would already be sufficient. The only thing I am wondering: Bye Aerospace did design a specific ...

Re: DA50 Owners: PIREPS Appreciated!

They are doing a road trip and I was able to test fly it this week. I heard that the first private delivery to Switzerland was happening this week as well and that they are sold out until end of 2022 now with a continuous production. Here my testflight-Pirep: Very beautiful aircraft! Cabin is very n...

Re: Adding the VNAV button

Agreed. The VNAV button is more a tech toy. However if you program a waypoint with height you can always go FPL->Direct VNAV, then activate VNAV and set the lower altitude on the bug and start your decent 10s later. I use this more often in VFR flights than the preplanned TOD. TOD is a good indicati...

It’s satcom only for Phase I hardware. With the phase II upgrade it works nicely via Bluetooth.

Re: DA40 NG in Germany 2021: Satellite Weather, Flarm, 3rd Party Software

Hi! I coown and fly a 2019 DA62 with NXI and a 2017 DA40NG with legacy G1000 out of Augsburg. I was trying to find FLARM solutions for quite some time now, but especially with the 345R ADS-B in/out and the TAS600 already installed there seems to be no good way for a permanent installation with corre...

Re: Foggles Experiment

I don’t have experience with foggles, but I recently heard about smart foggles in Max’s aviation news talk podcast which seem to have lot’s of advantages:

Re: ECU 'gotcha' in my DA62

Hmm, you might be absolutely right that 13% power result in the same thrust at 9000ft as at MSL. But since the 13% is just a digital input into a control system (the ECU) it is not clear what this exactly means. Would be good to know though…

Re: ECU 'gotcha' in my DA62

Good discussion and important to know! I learned about this effect at my DA62 factory training in Austria. They made it sound as it is important to know, but practically speaking not a big issue. I‘d assume that the official performance charts are real values flown with this effect. Also keep in min...

Re: FAA SDR Review - Austro

We had intermittent ECU failures with our DA40NG after 500hrs which eventually got traced down to the waste gate controller. Luckily there was no power loss, just the error message. It’s about time to replace the >100 moving parts of our noisy engines with two ball bearings, some transistors and som...

Re: Park Brake issue

FS510 is Bluetooth AND Wifi, but Wifi only for database updates. Wifi doesn‘t show up unless the Database concierge in the Garmin Pilot App is correctly configured and has an update pending. The „update pending“ trigger is then transferred via Bluetooth to the Fs510 and the Wifi is activated. It mos...
