Re: N807DS across Europe

Hi Antoine, Losnij airport is cute and some interesting place to see (barrack resambles me some old railway station building). But they have customs there, some serious customs lady and AVGAS. Really nice spot on the map, I was there last year for a few hours, in August I think I will fly for some l...

Re: Diamond Fly-in Slovakia-Hungary

Program looks great. I think July 6-9 is a better term. July the 1st there are going to be finals of Euro soccer championships, so makes sense to plan this weekend a bit different way (so that flying skills are not very required)...

Re: Euro Crisis hits GA in Italy

Hello Gents, If you plan a fly-in in Hungary - I will try to join, from Poland 2h flying, why not. In case of Per as the refuelling place- fully agree, just visited week ago on my return from Zadar - very friendly people there in LHPR. So let's try to agree the date, this for sure is going to be one...

Re: DA40 long range magic empty weight increase

Thanks to eveyone sharing weight secrets of our babies... Looks mine is indeed lighter than she was labeled to be, there must have been some jelous woman doing the previous weightening :) Tommorow I need to buy flowers and excuse for some bitter moments from the past, when I was complaining about my...

DA40 long range magic empty weight increase

Hello, I just had to weight my plane and what a suprice - after 4 years it got some 70 lbs lighter, no diet applied :) Would be great if it's true, but I am wondering how could it happen. Either magic with the current measurement or maybe some fuel was in the wings during the previouis one (combined...

Re: wierd problem!

I am wondering... Maybe giroscopic effect plays a role here? This could explain some tricks working better or worse once the pivot nut is loose (than giroscopic forces being able to move the wheel).

Re: wierd problem!

Just had a trip where one way no aligment problem, the return with this frustrating issue. Altitudes similar, load the same (even less in return due to fuel burn). From my observations cost of missaligment is some 3-4 KT.

Re: Which DA40, Avgas or Diesel?

So importing an N reg Lyco could potentially cost me another 30000 EUR to get it upto EASA IR spec  . I was planning on getting an steam gauge 180 and adding a G500 but with the additional costs this doesn't look quite so attractive an option. Has anyone looked at early steam gauge diesels a...

Re: Fuel pump use

Fully agree. This fuel pump used by Diamond must be some kind of rubbish and whatever care you take - out of the sudden they remind about it. I remember reading couple of months ago on this forum that they go dead far below lifetime limit. Looks mine will join this group soon, just started producing...

Re: Starter problem - AOG

I am afraid looks like a dead starter Tim. To make sure you can check voltage passage from the selenoid to the starter. If once you engage the ignition there is 24 V passed from selenoid to the sterter - then looks like confirmed, starter motor seems to be broken. Quite probably your starter is SkyT...
