Re: jet shades
Go fer the premium package. The heat reduction in the back is impressive. You can tell the difference between how much heat gets through the front vs rear shades by holding a hand behind each on a sunny day.

Re: MSB-E4-034 High Pressure Fuel Pump driving gear
Interestingly, this MSB does not apply to my left engine (#83), but does apply to my right (#92).

Re: Proud Owner of Pre-Owned 2016 DA62!!
My DA62 also came from Qatar. If yours was from the same sheikh/flight school as mine (62.051) it was probably impeccably maintained and well documented. One gotcha to look out for - ADS-B out must be reconfigured to match your new N number with the data being broadcast. Mine was not, and (not knowi...

This is what happens when the gas pipeline shuts down...
... and 4 lovely women from North Carolina cannot count on getting fuel to drive the 24 hour round trip to Memphis to pick up their Golden Retriever puppies, but a guy with a DA62 can count on enough fuel for the 2:20 flight:
The 5th puppy (with my wife, second from left) is ours.

Re: MSB: oil pump replacement
Austro MSB-E4-031 just grounded DA40NGs, and allows for a single ferry flight for DA42s and DA62s that have engines with the following serial numbers until oil pumps get replaced: Screen Shot 2021-06-22 at 12.04.27 PM.png See: http://support.diamond-air.at/fileadmin/uploads/files/after_sales_support...

Re: Which iPad?
The iPad Mini mounts perfectly, not obstructing the view of either the ground below or the panel using a RAM MOUNTS Composite Double Socket Swivel & Ratchet Arm (Part #RAP-B-200-2U). View from pilot's eye level: Pilot Eye View.jpg It contorts nicely around the closed position of the canopy: Top ...

Re: Transistion DA42-VI into DA62
Can some of you who have flown both planes comment on the view from the cockpit? The panoramic canopy in the DA42 is amazing. I have never seen a DA62. But on the DA62, the view out the front and A-pillars seems much more constrained, just from youtube videos and pictures. Is there anyone who would...

Re: Transistion DA42-VI into DA62
(I wish someone would try pushing both buttons and starting both engines at once.) Neither will start. Diamond designed a curiously complex system to prevent it. There are 3 starter relays - main (normally open), left (normally closed), and right (normally closed). When the left engine pushbutton i...

Dissenting opinion here - Get the latest version of the Mini, and mount it on the left side using a ball mount and the latest version of the RAM EZ-Roll'r Cradle for Apple iPad mini: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019LRI1YE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . Use a RAM mount ar...

Re: Part needed ASAP
Austro engines have dual ECU's but inputs to both are typically from a single sensor. Should a single sensor, or electrical connection to a sensor fail, it is quite common to have both ECU A and B FAIL warnings light up. Sometimes it's a transient message. Not a huge deal if the engine keeps running...
