DA40 replacement battery

Went to my plane on Thursday, and the battery was flat. Local shop sent over a battery cart, and the plane jumped started without problem. Had to run the engine at higher rmp for a couple of minutes before, the G1000 came alive. Flew for a couple of hours. Friday afternoon check on the battery and i...

Re: Fuel cap Key

I don't see the point of locking the gas cap when thiefs can easily drain from the drain valves.
To me it just adds to the hassle during fillups.

Re: wierd problem!

I to have had the on again off again rudder trim problem. After 2 months of trouble shooting I found the problem. CHECK the tie down eye bolts just inside the wingtip. If they are not perfectly aligned it will yaw one way or the other. Charlie T DA40.861 If a mis-aligned tie down eye bolts causes s...

Re: Oil consumption post annual.

My 07 DA40 will hold just above 6 qts. Last oil change with 7 qts. back to 6 qts after an hours flight, don't seem to burn any oil.

Re: wierd problem!

During the initial upwind climb, felt and heard a little thump that seem to come from the NLG. Flew around and did five touch and goes (free of charge). The plane felt normal: needing right rudder during high power climbs, but no left rudder during level flights. I assume that little thump that I fe...

Re: wierd problem!

I tracked down the info on the aeronautical tape solution and it seems it has not been permanent. I called Diamond again to see they developed any potential solutions. Apparently they are installing a new NLG on newly manufactured planes but it would be expensive to retrofit and they are not sure i...

Re: wierd problem!

Interesting observation - every DA40 picture and video I have seen shows the back of the NLG cocked toward the co-pilot side. I have attached a picture of my old DA40 taken from another plane I was flying in formation with, clearly showing the nose wheel alignment problem. Why always to the right, ...

Re: da40 tundra STOL solution

Is it available as a retrofit?

Interesting that the passenger steps are behind the wings. I see that on the DA40NG the steps are still at the standard location ahead of the wing.

After noticing a crack at the left wing root. I now prohibit passengers from getting anywhere near the trailing edge.

Re: wierd problem!

Same thing for me too. I thought some one messed with my rudder trim tab!

Look at the video by Diamond for the DA40NG and you can see this 'feature!'
