Re: Tracking with the DA40 G1000?

Finally I've been checking the software release: 369.xx (can't remember the last two digits). The mechanic says that this is the version for DA40-180, while 321.xx is for TDIs. Is that correct? On a test flight I didn't get anything on the SD card, so looks like 369.xx doesn't do it. Does anybody o...

Re: DA40 fuel flow sensor

Kai,

I would guess they are buying the sensor directly from Diamond, so most or all of the margin was probably added there! How would your shop respond if you showed up with a new sensor and just asked them to replace yours?

Re: G1000 MFD Failure

Got my MFD back from Garmin and installed on Friday. Total cost was $1700 ($1400 flat rate Garmin repair of the MFD and $300 labor including upgrading the software from ver .19 to ver .22). Garmin replaced the "main circuit board". Glad to hear you're back in the air, Tim. Now that you ha...

Re: Diamond DA-40 annuals and break/fixes

We have gone through 3 annuals with our DA40. Without looking at the bills, I would estimate we spend pretty close to your $3000 figure per year on maintenance, including the annual. We put around 200 hours per year on our plane. A DA40 used in a training environment probably requires multiple 100-h...

Re: Question about brake pedals

Welcome, Stephen! I hope this will be your first of many future posts! I'm pretty sure the brake pedals are fixed at their current angle - at least, I know that's the case for our '04 DA40. A couple of ideas come to mind, though - I'm sure you must already have your heals on the floor for takeoff, s...

Re: WAAS Approach Question

I was looking at the logbook for this aircraft, and noticed the entry for the WAAS installation (back in '09) says "Installed WAAS GPS system without VNAV ". I didn't realize there were options here - with VNAV vs. without VNAV? Or, is the G1000 with KAP140 just not capable of WAAS with VN...

The first DA40's with G1000 were the 2004 models - I only know this because I had one!
