Re: What comes after a DA40?

Well, if Cary joins BT, I will just have to see him over there.....
I joined BT back in 2010. It is hard to believe it was eight years ago that I looked into getting a Beech.

Re: Twin or Single

Most singles also kind of lose range when the engine fails  There's a difference between losing an engine in a twin over the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and merely 100 NM from shore. From what sketchy evidence I can find, of all Diamond variants, the NG would seem to be the leader in powe...

Re: Twin or Single

Any piston plane being moved overseas. Such as Barons and Bonanza going to Australia, sometimes south America... I want to one day fly around the world, so I started reading blogs and discussions by ferry pilots for a few years. I have come to the conclusion: I need burn Jet-A, and I will take my ti...

Re: Twin or Single

Ferry pilots on really long over water flights prefer single engine, because most twins when you lose an engine lose range.
Since they often need ferry tanks, losing an engine in a twin often means you are not making land.
So you need more info, besides the 144 mile water crossing.

Re: Contemplating long-term suitability of a DA40 for family of 4

I have four adult daughters now. I laughed when I read this part of the post " ...using it to travel with my wife and two daughters, including a reasonable amount of luggage (around 20 kg or 45 lbs) ..." I wish! If I want to travel with my whole family, boyfriends and luggage, I'll be nee...

Re: Leaseback experiences?

I second shorton's message.
I made good use of an aviation accountant, along with a tax specialist. To make it work, I actually did some planning and it took a year to set it up before I purchased the plane and put it on leaseback.

Re: Contemplating long-term suitability of a DA40 for family of 4

I did let my own weight get up a bit last year but that has been corrected. And more than both of these combined :) Nice, I am down ten pounds from last (had to lose it twice, French mother in law visited and I gained about a pound a week for ten weeks. Goal is lose ten lbs a year until I hit my ta...
