Re: Corrosion within the laminate

Well, it looks like my 2002 DA40 - with 800 hrs - and has always been hangered at KLOM (Wings, NE of Philly) has joined the club of DA40' requiring repair work to address this laminate/corrosion problem. While doing a pre-annual walk around with Wing's Head of Maintenance to discuss my aircraft's sq...

Re: FS 210 follies

I’ve had a FS210 for the past 21 months on my 2002 DA40, and it has been worth every penny. When my CFI is putting me through the paces in our instrument proficiency lessons, the FS210 allows me to quickly load the next flight plan/procedure. Sure I can use the Direct2 button and dials, but using Fo...

Re: Some Great Flying

Departure from Kitty Hawk/First Flight - Though the real story was the very rough ride into an attempted landing/go around as I continued to float, and float - thinking the whole time that the Wright Brothers took years to fly 12 seconds and for the life of me I could not get my DA40 to land. Went a...

Re: Bird Strike - DA40

Jeremy - I liked the clear canopy so much that I realized that my response to your question of whether it would be worth having in Florida would be sadly biased. As such, I asked the person who spent the most time in the co-pilot seat whether she would return to a clear canopy in Florida. She laughe...

Re: Bird Strike - DA40

Jeremy - from the bird remains has anyone been able to identify what kind of bird hit your aircraft? I ask because it would be interesting to know how little mass was needed to damage your canopy in this way. So happy you were able to safely handle this scary event. As you order your replacement - I...

Re: Cindy on the Sim - Autopilot & Hand Flying… and More?

Wayne, Perfect timing on this video, as my wife has been asking me to teach her more and more about the use of the AP. So we both enjoyed watching your video. While we fly a six pack/KAP140 DA40 - you really provided a pinch hitter experience that is readily relatable regardless of aircraft configur...

Re: New Owner

Flyairth, I like your maintenance spreadsheet. If I could offer two additions they would be: 1. In the annual PowerFlow inspection add lubrication of the slip joints. When I was shopping for my Diamond I was surprised how few planes had any mention of this inspection/lubrication. I discuss the need ...

Re: Another flap oddity

Before this thread I never knew these rubber pads were supposed to be there. Today, I confirmed I am missing both so it looks like I will take Rich’s suggestions and get this repaired.

Re: The New Garmin GI 275 Attitude Indicator (AI/ADI)

Attached is a link to a 31 min video of a Mooney owner who just installed two of these devices. Both the video and the comments are very Instructive.

If the link does not work search YouTube for “ Garmin GI275 Test Flight in a Mooney 305 Rocket in HD”

Re: Diamond Aircraft Owner Census

I just completed the survey and I was surprised/disappointed at how cursory it was. While I understand even having this initial survey is sadly a huge step for Diamond, I was hoping to see at least a comment box for each of us to suggest possible future questions for Diamond to ask of us. Regardless...
