New ICAO format (at least in the U.S.)

I have a 2008 DA40XLS. It has a G1000 that is WAAS capable. Does anybody know what I need to file in the new format? Specifically: Do I file DME capable? I have no separate DME equipment. What transponder code do I use? Am I .833 radio spacing capable? All my manuals are at my hangar and I'd like to...

Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40

Will the G1000 change so that the service ceiling is raised as well? Will the AP work above 16,400?

Re: G1000 - how to update DB

The Garmin web site has both SVT (9 arcsec) and non SVT (30 arcset) databases. Last update was 18 Apr 2012. Thanks, I did not realize they now had both on the website. Does anyone know what cards I update for the terrain? Is it both bottom cards like obstacle and safe taxi? It's been years since I ...

Re: G1000 - how to update DB

Slight thread drift here but does anyone know if the SVT terrain database has been updated in the last 4 years? And to keep it on the current thread, if you have SVT, DO NOT update it from the Garmin website. The terrain files offered on the website are for non-SVT G1000s.

Re: planning a trip down to the san fran area

I like flying into KOAK. I don't think I've ever spent the night so I don't know if they charge but the airport itself is GA friendly. You need to check fuel prices though. It used to have a self serve option that was affordable but last time I was there, SS was no longer an option.

Re: LPV Approaches

Thanks for pointing this out. I suppose you could load the procedure in the sim as part of a pre flight to avoid a nasty surprise but still this is unfortunate.

Re: Lazy 8s, Chandelles, power off 180-degs in a DA40

Another thing to consider in the DA40 is the prop control. You can pull back on the RPMs and really stretch the glide into a standard pattern. This helps keep the speed in control and if you want to descend faster, slow down, land sooner, just up the RPMs.

Re: wierd problem!

I would still recommend that anyone suffering from this problem get their nose wheel pivot tightened to the top of the range specified in the AMM first. If that doesn't solve it, then try adjusting the rudder trim tab, but be extremely careful not to damage the fiberglass it's attached to! By messi...

My $11,000 Annual

So my annual this year cost me $11,000. My 2008 DA40 XLS has a little over 800 hours on the tach. The point of this post is not to discuss how much I overpaid. I know I pay extra given where I have my annual done (Million Air in SLC) but it is very convenient and I'm willing to pay extra for that. A...
