Can you us a little bit more about your mission and experience? Are you learning to fly in this plane? Where wiill it be based? At sea level or in the mountains? What destinations do you think you will fly to regularly? My primary mission will be to gain flight hours and experiences while working o...

Re: DA62 sanity check on interior/radar

I have owned (with a partner) planes that have had the 68,70,75 and 8000. The 70 is a nice improvement over the 68 and just makes things easier to understand. The 75 is a big improvement over the 70 and not only does a better job of painting weather but you can get it with terrain suppression and tu...

Re: Green, Va and turbulence

Above the puffy clouds on a summer day, you will find smooth air. The problem is that those clouds can be 18,000 feet or higher in the SW on a warm day. Even so, I will still fly at 12,000 to 14,0000 feet in the DA40. It’s fuel efficient and indicated airspeed is almost always going to be below the ...

Re: Fatal UT accident appears to be DA40

What I'm about to say has nothing to do with this accident since it is too soon to know much. I learned to fly in the Rockies and have been based in Utah for the past fifteen years. The most common DA related accident I read about is one where the pilot does the math and has ample runway for the tak...

Re: Do I know what I am getting into / Should I buy a Diamond?

My 17 year old wants to learn how to fly and I have my own mission for a DA40. I basically did exactly what Chris suggested which is purchase a WAAS DA40 XLS. I learned how to fly in a DA40 and got my instrument and commercial in one. It is the perfect first plane. Magnificently forgiving, provides ...

Nose Gear Tension

There is a range on the nose gear for setting the tension. I can't remember whether it's the high end of the range or the low end of the range that helps with the corked nose wheel or maybe somewhere in the middle. Which is it?

Pre Buy Near Burbank

I'm looking for someone to do a quick pre buy on a DA40. Mostly focused on a borescope. Does anyone have any recommendations for a shop with Diamond experience within about 75 miles of Burbank? Thanks.
