Hoping there is an AME on the field, there is a good probability that he would be able to jack the airplane up. However, he might not have the odd size tube in stock.SavageB wrote:Are you banking on that someone else has a way to jack up the airplane to insert the tube? Just wondering.

Re: What's in the bag?
I carry a portable power pack that can be used to jump start the engine, can power a small electrical tire pump that I also carry. This way I can inflate a tire on a remote airstrip and not be stranded there. I have a spare tube for a main wheel. The power pack also has a usb port so can be used to ...

Re: Difference in DA20 C1 Katana vs Eclipse vs Evolution?
Just wondering if there's any functional difference not listed on wiki that I need to be aware of. Any difference would be insignificant compared to the differences in upkeep between various used airplanes on sale. All DA20-C1s fly at the same speed, provided they have the MT propeller and wheel pa...

As promised, here is the MT Propeller supplement

With higher speed comes higher fuel consumption at the same RPM.

Re: DA-20 MT prop STC experience
I have the MT prop too - but cannot contrast/compare. Previous owner bit that bullet. Having said that, I've been very happy with the performance. Believe "Cruise Performance" is where the MT prop shines. One downside, many of the graphs in the POH are for the other two props - not the MT...

Re: Difference in DA20 C1 Katana vs Eclipse vs Evolution?
All DA20 models are referred to as Katanas by ATC as far as I can tell. Similar to all Cessna 172s being referred to as Skyhawks, even though the name originally referred to a trim level introduced in the late 60s. I own an Evolution (no rear windows). I don't miss the rear windows as the luggage ar...

Re: Static RPM
Was your indicated airspeed lower than usual?
When I purchased my 1999 DA20-C1 in April of 2017 I discovered that the tach was more than 10% off so I had that instrument replaced. Might be worth it to check with a digital RPM reader.

Re: NLG Replacement Rubber
Rubber becomes harder over time, thus causing more stress to the nose gear assembly when landing. In an ideal world you would always grease your landings and land on the mains, but we don't live in an ideal world. Over a period of several years, the rubber pucks also compress, lowering the nose, red...

Re: DA-20 MT prop STC experience
I installed a new MT propeller last spring for 6000$ cad, replacing the old Sensenich. This is an amazing propeller. I experienced the same performance improvements as Derek mentioned.
In my humble opinion this the best upgrade you can put on your DA20-C1, bar none.

Re: Buying a DA-20
The DA20-C1 is fuel injected, has better climb performance, higher cruise speed, and is mechanically simpler than the Rotax because it has a fixed pitch propeller. The DA20-C1 usually commands a higher resale price. The DA20-A1's Rotax engine is carburated, has better fuel economy, has a better glid...
