Re: Hand flying GPS approaches
Sorry, Keith - I missed that you had the DA40 D , so no recent G1000 update. :( Here is an idea if you want to use your CDI for final approach course intercept. When you are a mile or two away from the IAF, scroll down to the next approach segment in the flight plan list so it's highlighted. Then, ...

Re: wierd problem!
A known and chronic problem. Some have reported that "all you have to do is get the nosewheel torque correct". I have not found that to be the case. Mine acts one way one day, another the next. I'm thinking of changing the grease used on the nosewheel pivot. It's funny but I don't seem to...

Re: Hairline crack at wing root
I have it on the passenger side of my wing root. Sent pictures to the factory and they thought it was just in the paint and not significant. It is being looked at more carefully now as it is in annual.

Re: Diamond event in London, Ontario, on Sept 17th?
My plane goes into annual next week. With the ADs on the DA42 I am sure that it won't be done in time. If anyone is flying near Indianapolis to get there (and return home) and would like (and has the ability) to take a passenger, let me know.

Re: TDI vs. NG
I operate my 1.7s at 75% power and use 5.6 gal/hr with the RPMs at 2100. This gives me 150 to 152 KTAS at 10000 feet. The AFM states that at 75% power the RPMs should be 2030, however the TAS is exactly where the AFM states it should be for both the fuel flow and the performance. I don't know why th...

Re: What happened to Modern Aero?
This is very sad to hear. I bought my DA42 from them and they did my service for the 2 hers I was there. The service was excellent (although expensive). It is a surprise they have gone out of business. They always had multiple jets and high end turboprops in the shop for service. They just built a n...

Doug,
I sent you an e-mail about this. Let me know if you didn't get the e-mail (I sent it through the DAA site).

Re: Type of Knee Board for Diamond?
I purchased and tested last weekend the iPro Aviator kneeboard (http://www.forpilotsonly.com/iPro-Aviator.htm). It has several advantages over other iPad commercial kneeboards for the Diamond. There is a place for a pencil/pen on the strap. In addition, the fold over top has a clip on it for attachi...

Re: Cabin heat in the DA42NG
You probably already know, but this is not the case in the DA42 (1.7 engines). I get plenty of cabin heat even when the OAT is -20C.
