Re: DA40 vs. Cirrus SR20
Bought my 2011 DA40 XLS 18m ago. Couldn't be happier with it. Meets my needs perfectly. I've only been flying for 3yrs so safety, benign flight characteristics, and a forgiving design were really important factors to me as I started on this journey of flying and plane ownership. I bought the DA40 an...

Re: Good news and bad news at S39
Not sure what the airport plans are...but placing a voice recorded note about the frequency change on the local weather frequency could help.

Re: Optimal landing speed
I like to keep some extra airspeed 80-90 through the pattern turns and slow down on final. The runways I’m landing on are 3000+++ ft so the subsequent float in ground effect doesn’t really matter to me. I would rather have the airspeed margin through the pattern maneuvering. The DA40 is easy to slow...

Re: GTX345r Bluetooth intermittent
Follow up on this issue. Tracked the intermittent Bluetooth connectivity down to one of the recent iOS updates. Apparently, this was an issue with a number of products. Car Bluetooth systems also had issues related to this. The recent iOS updates have corrected this. I haven’t had any strange discon...

Re: What tug to get?
Hold the tail down with your body weight to get the nose off the ground as the plane is pulled in.

GTX345r Bluetooth intermittent
GTX345r was installed 2yrs ago. Bluetooth reception has always been reliable to my iPad in the pilot’s seat. Annual inspection and 2 yr IFR pitot/static check done last month. Since the maintenance, the GTX345r disconnects from the iPad frequently during flight. I’ve had to resort to my backup strat...

Re: Need G1000 database refresher
There are various threads on this forum with some input. You can search and see what you can find that might be helpful. I’ll try and get you started though. Go to the flygarmin website and select the databases you need to update (probably all of them). The Garmin windows program will open when you’...

Re: Sirius XM
Go to MFD map page and hit the Menu button in MFD. toggle the selection the FIS-B weather. That will change the source to the GTX345 weather. Shouldn’t see the Sirius pages again unless you toggle back if you ever activate Sirius weather.
