Re: DA40-180 Oil Dipstick: Lycoming MSB 612

Anthony, I don't think there are part numbers on either dipstick, but it's pretty easy to tell. The OLD one has nearly linear spacing between the 4, 6, and 8-quart markings. The NEW one has much less space between the 4 and 6 marks than between the 6 and 8 marks. Also, on the OLD one, the 4-quart ma...

What's odd about 701? Since it's my bird, maybe I can shed some light on it... ;)

Re: Forum upgraded

Here's an interesting change in behavior with regard to email notifications. Formerly the subject line would begin: Topic reply notification - Since the upgrade it starts with: Reply in But this is really curious: For replies in the "Crazy Pricing" topic, when I receive the email in Thund...

Re: Forum upgraded

It looks like the link for "Unread Posts" has disappeared. I'm pretty sure it was on the Test site, because that is the primary link I use on the DAN. I would have missed it first thing...

Re: Takeoff FF vs. OAT (IO-360)

I haven't paid that close attention either, but ... the DAN does have thousands of data files uploaded from our users, so you could sort through some and look at fuel flow and OAT and see what others are getting if you were so inclined!

Re: ANNUAL INSPECTIONS

Same here - I pull the rudder at each annual. My IA says he can't fully inspect the elevator control rods and other stuff behind it with it in place, so I pull it. The rudder is only held on by two nyloc nuts at the bottom (which always amazes me!) and I feel better replacing them each year anyhow. ...

Re: Crazy Pricing?

Someone looking for a GFC700-equipped DA40 might only look at 2007 and later models since that was when Diamond made the change, so there would be a good reason to list it as a 2007 model. Like Steve, mine was sold to me as "a 2007 model" back in 2012, but it is listed in the FAA database ...

Re: Crazy Pricing?

As an aside - Something I learned by the VREF site is that by serial number my aircraft is actually considered a 2003 model (built Dec 2002). Many of us have this same problem. In my case, my "2006" DA40 says "XL" on the side (like a 2006) but is s/n 40.701 and all of the standa...
