Re: MSB-E4-042 - Crankshaft-bearing cap screws replacement
A little late now, but maybe the attempt to use an automotive engine designed to run at 15% power for most of it's life versus 75-90+% power wasn't the best idea. Poo-poo the ancient technology Lycomings all you want (and plenty have here) - but they are overall exceptionally reliable (especially th...

Re: DA40NG N907L forced landing on a highway
Thank goodness for the fortunate outcome. “An Austo has close to PT-6 reliability and the IO-360 fails every 1100 hours?”. What are the references for those statements? Any engine can fail, and we fly accordingly, but I thought most IO-360’s made it to TBO and beyond with little if any trouble. The...

Re: DA40NG N907L forced landing on a highway
Did Diamond ever release the cause of the engine failure on the DA40NG that made it back to the airport in NJ, or was it NY? It was in NY - IMC engine failure during training flight with CFI on board who magnificently controlled the ATC-guided descent to a happy outcome on a runway. However, Diamon...

Re: What is the true cost of owning a DA20?
The DA20 can be used for VMC only training towards the IFR rating/currency/etc. , but may not be flown in IMC.

Re: G1000 NXi Phase III
I bought a DA-40 in 2003. The second with a G1000. What was true then is true today. Virtually the same words and conversations from the customers and ... silence from Diamond. This is perhaps why everyone I know says buy EAB versus certificated if possible and never, ever, anything with an integra...

They are the best in the business. For me, 35 years of depending on their quality work. If you could see some of the repairs they do at Delta Tech Ops - you would be amazed.

Re: DA-42 in-flight engine failure
WOW this is eye opening....especially as we just received the first 2 of 3 DA40NGs, (and a 42 late next year). Both were test flown in Jul then disassembled for shipping in Aug. Any suggestion on what documentation (if any) we need to scrub regarding this issue? Don’t know how you could miss all th...

Re: Portable Ballast
I bought several of these for use in our RV-10. Similar issue with forward CG with only pilot and passenger on board. Durable and not likely to leak. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1008486043?pid=923481&utm_medium=email&utm_source=service&utm_campaign=product-review&utm_content=pr...

Re: DA-42 in-flight engine failure
Update 27th Sept 2023: Inspection showed that gears on the left fuel pump were also worn out, but didn't fall apart yet (after just 24h). We will get CRS release for one flight to fly to a service center to get the job done properly on the left engine. This means that both engines of my DA42 were a...
