Re: G1000 NXi Phase III
I'm rather curious as to the discussion on the DA-40-180 XLT. I hadn't heard that they were even doing NXi upgrades for the DA-40-180s, much less that there would be a Phase 3. Heck, I don't believe we have even an update for the original G1000 past the "0321.23" release from December 201...

Re: Heater lever changes the altitude
There is a good article in the March, 2021 issue of EAA Sport Aviation on pitot/static issues, which gives an example which duplicated your symptoms exactly. Static line leak within the cabin was the cause. I found the article - interesting - may also be the cause of my low IAS after installing the...

Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition
And I am not impressed with the SureFly so far. My cylinders run hotter now but seem to produce less power so I am running richer to keep them cool. MPG drop! I fixed a static leak and I believe my IAS has gone up a bit which may have been the cause of the efficiency drop. It's a bit hard to tell p...

Re: Kap140 trim fail and other AP anomolies
I would bet that is it a bad trim servo. I replaced two so far in 1,600 hours. Maybe it's been three. What was the process to replace the servo? Did you replace entirely or try to overhaul? Was it expensive? If you are anywhere near KHYA I highly recommend working with Bob Griffin at Griffin Avioni...

Re: Fuel pressure sensor one more time
Swapping the sensors probably works because they are re-engaging the contacts and those can get loose and stop transmitting. Colin - I think it is more than that. I was having false low fuel pressure alerts (G1000) and re-seated the connector several times which did not fix the problem. Not until p...

Re: Seat cushion options
I second the Oregon Aero cushions. I am 5'9+" and use the 1" with standard lumbar support. My wife (not a pilot) is 5' and uses the 2". They also have a 1/2" but will make to a custom thickness if you ask. Great company. 5 years and would purchase again in a heartbeat. My daughte...

Re: Diamond announces an electric DA40
We already have a lot of FBOs that grew out of flight schools, so it's not unreasonable to imagine that some of the folks who buy the electric Diamonds will eventually want to provide charging services to anyone else flying in with a compatible system. I have a 220V outlet in my hangar. If an elect...

Re: Alternator slow to wake up
Update on this one. After squaring away the SureFly issues last winter, my mechanic checked out the charging system and couldn't find anything wrong with it. Of course he could not re-create the problem. He said next thing he would do is replace the voltage regulator if I wanted. Either the problem ...
