Re: Roll servo replacement
I assume the Diamond factory can do it. In fact that is Plan B. The plane is currently at Calspan in Niagara Falls. If they can't get it done London, ON looks to be about an hour away. As for why it is different, I don't really understand. I think some places are scared off just because it is a Diam...

Roll servo replacement
Has anyone in the Northeast US had a GFC700 roll servo replaced? I'm looking for a shop to do it. I've contacted several places and they are either unwilling or unavailable to do it.
Note that the symptom is that the AP kicks out occasionally for no obvious reason, with a red ROLL annunciator.

Re: Now that was a go-around
When my kids were younger, I made good use of the ISO function on my intercom for all phases of flight except cruise. My kids were pretty well-behaved, but you never can tell when the "Are we there yet?" will interrupt an important activity... Steve My daughter doesn't yet understand that...

Re: Good news for Diamond?
I have just started following a pilot on Facebook who did all her training in Diamond aircraft. She was at UVU in Utah, in their aviation program. She said a year before graduating she was offered a job with Republic. (That's a hungry industry, hiring people before they even get out the door.) Does...

Re: Spacer Boards for Hangar Door Tracks
Nice solution. I did the exercise with the boards many times when I had a sliding door hangar and a DA20.

Re: Airport of Entry in Canada
I think this is what you are looking for: https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/h_sf01775.html This says the radio station license is not required unless the aircraft is being operated outside of Canada. Since I am based in the US, my aircraft is routinely operated outside of Canada. But th...

Re: Airport of Entry in Canada
Can anyone confirm one way or another that the aircraft Radio Station License is still required in Canada? Someone who has flown across the border multiple times told me that he has never been asked for it. I have a Restricted Radiotelephone operators license from 2013. I believe that never expires....

Re: Flyout to the Bahamas?
Thanks so much for the Bahamas info. When flying KFPR to MYCB, what route do you take? IFR or VFR flight plan?

Re: Airport of Entry in Canada
By the way my girlfriend asked me if we could fly to Boston soon. Would you have a friendly GA airport to recommend? Pascal, You are a lucky man. To first order, "friendly" and "Massachusetts" aren't frequently used together in the same sentence. But you have plenty of airports ...
