Re: Vent window lock broken
I cannot recommend those metal latches enough. They eliminated something that I worried about on nearly every flight. (I once broke one while crossing the country and spent the rest of the time taping the vent closed or holding it closed.)

Re: I flew a DA42 today!
Differential power on the taxi is the way to go. Using the brakes apparently encourages the tires to roll of their beads, which is no good in the long run. The throttles are not mechanical linkages but just requests to the FADEC units. I was told that slamming them forward is what you are meant to d...

Re: Centurion Diesel Engine TBO increased
What is the difference between my CD-135s (I assume, I have 2.0 engines on the DA42) and the CD-155? Is it just the FADEC board that is different? If so, could I just replace my FADEC boards and get a reserve 20hp more power?

Re: iPad in DA40
I use a RAM mount to put the iPad mini so that it sits in the perfect visual spot when I am on an approach (which is when I most want that display on). You can see it in both portrait mode and landscape mode in this blog post . There is now USB power under my left knee, but I haven't needed to plug ...

Once you get it shaken out I vote for a flight across the pond to California. That's an important flight to make in a new 'craft.

I think you should get one extra and make it into your desk chair.

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
Ah, that's the thing Foreflight bought. I am hopeful that it will start to sort of show up in Foreflight planning itself.

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
I got AV Fuel first, just got UVAir, got FuelBoss, and have applied for CAA. (Or maybe I just got CAA and I am waiting to hear from UVAir.) That link looks useful, thanks.
Has anyone used the AOPA flight planned that seems to do some interesting fuel price display work on your route?

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
I have *just* started to use a fuel card and ordered my second. It seems amazing to pay $2.35 a gallon for JetA when I had to pay $7 a gallon for 110LL the week before.

Re: G1000 MFD won't update
If I had an up-to-date Foreflight with me I wouldn't bother updating the G1000 until I got home. The mountains have not moved. You might have an incorrect frequency or two, but if the navigator/co-pilot uses the iPad instead that won't be an issue.
