I have read that a backfire can cause cracks in the exhaust and therefore possible carbon monoxide issue. Something to keep in mind for a check at next annual and be careful to ensure you have the CO2 monitor going and potentially a backup.

It certainly would be interesting to see a 5 year side-by-side financial comparison for say 200hrs per year, factoring in cost of capital, fuel, recurrent training, maintenance, insurance, hanger, landing fees and so on.

Joop, just curious, did you try pulling the circuit breaker on this specific flight, and that did not re-set it?

I think Diamond could out-Cirrus Cirrus. The SRXX is just so unforgiving to pilots becoming distracted or overwhelmed and they slip up on their approach speeds and go into a stall / spin in the pattern / base to final. Or retract the flaps a little too soon at low altitude... and go into a spin. Poi...

I actually am glad to have seen how this is playing out (ie: no sense of urgency on DAI part nor timely responses). For my next plane I am seriously considering purchasing new, so if I do go with Diamond, at least I know what I am in for...
