Re: Flyout to the Bahamas?
Are there instrument approach procedures for airports in the Bahamas? I see references to instrument approaches, and apparently you can file an IFR flight plan. But I can't find any approach plates on ForeFlight, AOPA, or Airnav, even for Freeport or Nassau.

Re: Flyout to the Bahamas?
Thanks! If I wanted to just land, taxi back, and take off again, do I need to check in for any reason (such as paying a landing fee) at most airports? Not considering Freeport or Nassau currently.

Re: Flyout to the Bahamas?
Sorry I let this thread drop, but my schedule didn't allow for vacation planning these past few months. It so happens the plane is at Premier in Ft. Lauderdale for ADSB now, and so I'm thinking of making the hop over to the Bahamas maybe at the end of this month. Are there any differences in local f...

Re: Diamond Aircraft Owner's Seminars/Panels/Training/Fly-ins?
A few years after I bought my DA 40, we had a local Diamondfest, sponsored by the local Diamond service center (no longer). It was at Stinson airport in San Antonio (KSSF), and was, as I recall, 2 days long. Various seminars, presentation by a fellow from PowerFlow (just after they got their DA 40 ...

Re: Approved flight simulators
A quick look at the Redbird website shows the Jay and TD models as possibly being practical as home-based flight simulators. Though they aren't explicit about it, it seems like the Jay is not an FAA aviation training device but the TD is. At $6995 it's quite an investment though.

Re: Buying a DA-20
I owned both an A1 and a C1 model. Both are excellent aircraft. The only downsides are two seats and not IFR certified. If those don't bother you I would not hesitate to buy one. The A1 models are quite rare now and I would be somewhat concerned about parts and maintenance support going forward.

Approved flight simulators
I understand that the FAA regulations have changed recently to allow IFR approaches in a flight simulator to be logged without a CFI present. But I can't find any clear guidance on which flight simulators can be used for valid loggable approaches. Specifically, I'm trying to figure out if there are ...

We have a hangar door opening just shy of 40'. We use a floor-mounted winch and painted lines on the ground.

Re: Disposition of the 6 fundamental instruments
I may be wrong, but I thought panel mounting an uncertified piece of equipment (like an iPad) in a certified airplane was a no-go. Or at least would require reams of paperwork. In the US, anyway.

No experience with the DA40 NG to provide, but good job on handling the emergency safely.
