You Know You're a Diamond Pilot When ...

You've learned how to recharge the battery in your DA40 after popping the 25A ESS TIE breaker ... You've tried to figure out a way to attach a rope to the nosewheel to straighten it after takeoff ... You've been to the motorcycle store to buy a Yuasa battery for your DA20 ... You've discovered a dea...

Re: How to value a DA20

Don't know if you can add an autopilot to a DA20. Honestly I never missed is when I had my DA20's. I could see it adding some comfort on long flights as you describe. On a DA40 it's a different matter, I think an autopilot in IFR conditions is a significant safety enhancement. Not having a path to a...

Re: How to value a DA20

That's a sad story about this DA20. Sounds like this one will eventually enter the market as a fixer-upper.

I really like these planes. There are times I think about going back to a DA20 but I share your concerns about factory support.

Re: Flyout to the Bahamas?

This opportunity came up pretty suddenly for me so I didn't organize a group. If anyone wants to join at KFXE or meetup somewhere I would be happy to have some fellow aviators as part of the adventure. I'd rather discuss the specific dates offline but I am going in February. Feel free to PM me.

Re: Flyout to the Bahamas?

Is it reasonable to assume the I can pay for fuel, 100LL, with a credit card throughout the Bahamas? Or should I bring some cash?

At this time I'm thinking to use Governor's Harbour, Eleuthera (MYEM) for fuel.

Re: Flyout to the Bahamas?

Thanks CFIDave. In the Out Islands do you file IFR via ForeFlight on the ground and then pick up your clearance with Miami Center in the air? Or some other procedure?

Re: Flyout to the Bahamas?

Thanks. Looks like it is $195 for the Jeppesen Caribbean package. I think I'll pass for the handful of charts I'll most likely not use. I don't intend to conduct the flight in IMC but I thought they might be nice to have just in case. For the route outbound I'm thinking KFXE ZFP MRRSH(MYAM) MYCB. Se...
